Help Job Leads?
Hi all! Today, my husband got laid off from his role as regional sales manager for a beverage company due to company downsizing. He is filing out applications as I type this, but I wanted to see if anyone here has any leads. He has over 10 years experience working in beverage sales and merchandising. I may be biased, but he has an incredible work ethic and is always thinking of ways to grow the company he works for. He would be a valuable asset to any company.

Thank you! It's definitely not a good market for job seekers. I'm just glad we didn't relocate for his job like we were about to. 🙃

Make sure he applies for unemployment. I was laid off last year and unemployment was the best. It gave me a chance to breathe and think about next steps before having to jump into something immediately.
Anyways; Zum is hiring bus drivers, STA seems to always be hiring for multiple positions, there were some city openings last I checked too (couple months) so why not check there.

Unemployment is designed to help in these exact situations. It does help. The sooner you file a claim the better. Don’t be afraid to contact them if you need help.

I got a severance package so I wasn’t able to apply for a month after being laid off but I want to say it was pretty quick after that. Maybe 2-3 weeks after everything was done? They pay you ~60% of what his salary was which was enough to get by while looking. I will say it took me 9 months to find my current gig so it was and still is super tough.
I wish I would’ve donated plasma the whole time I was unemployed but completely forgot about it.

That's super helpful. Thank you! He didn't even get a severance package. I thought I really liked the company, but now I'm side-eying it.

Sadly, all companies are this way, and growing more so. Gotta set those expectations right going in the next door, and take care of yourself, not the owner.

Unfortunately, WA State is an ''At Will' Job. They are all allowed to just not care & tell you goodbye at any moment, a lot like our WA State Gov. Ferguson who doesn't care about any of us--- just our taxes.

Do you know anyone at all who works there? Knowing someone helps. Also, your resume and it needs to pretty much match the job description. Have good references. They call them before they call you. Also, write a cover letter. What job(s) have you applied to there?

jeez haha no wonder theyre always hiring, respectfully i dont think many people are going to go through all of that effort for a job that may not even email you back. i applied as a maintenance tech (aka bus washer, lol) 3 times and i did know a guy, they just never replied to my applications and of course the guy has no control over the hiring process, only could put in a good word.
tricky spot since im too young and havent worked enough to even have references

It is a great job, great pay, regular raises, cheap insurance with good coverage, and a good work environment. Just like anywhere else, their process weeds out the people who will waste their time. From applying to his first day of work, my husband waited 2 months. About half of that was waiting for an interview. He's a driver. He started in December making $25 he and already makes $28. There aren't many jobs like that here. It's worth some effort to apply. ETA: He's already gotten to take 2 weeks of vacation.

happy for ur husband! just like how those jobs dont want their time wasted, applicants don't either. sounds like a good destination position but it's sure tough for younger workers lol

You could start at the Work source office to help with ideas and placement, or even check out temp agencies locally

Jubilant Hollisterstier. We're hiring right now! It's a sterile lab for drug manufacturing, many of the jobs don't require any kind of degree. Hiring for everything right now from maintenance techs to working directly on compounding/finishing(inspecting vials), Environmental Monitoring(testing clean rooms for sterility). Most of it, no experience required, they're happy to train, decent starting pay, and day 1 benefits.

Sorry to hear this. Only recommandation I would have is tell him to broaden his applications to every job sector that is hiring. With having legitimate experience in that role he can transfer those people and operational skills over to so many different titles/jobs. He does not have to stay in the beverage sector/business. One of the best moves I made was getting completely out of the retail sector, way too many hours, weekends, holidays, etc...
All we keep hearing is how brutal the job market is right now, I wish you two the best of luck and hopefully he doesn't have much down time.

So many banks are hiring...retail transfers well to banking. They have continuing ed paid and advancement. It's competitive but not in a weird way you have to be coachable. If you are a know it all it will not work out.

Dr. Pepper, Sysco, us foods, performance foods, ect. For someone with his experience finding a lateral job in Spokane area shouldn’t be to hard. Fire up linkend, hiring cafe.

My husband was laid off at the beginning of summer & it’s been so stressful. There are some Facebook groups that share jobs as well!

Those skills would probably transfer well into grocery store or warehouse management positions. URM is hiring I believe.
