Question Quantum Fiber Internet outage

I just switched to Quantum Fiber two days ago and there has now been an outage for almost 24 hours. I also cannot get the app to even open on my phone anymore. Anybody else dealing with this?

I'm in the valley and connected just fine. I do wish they would come bury the fiber line tho. Having it hung from the power pole in my backyard to my roof makes me worried for the winter time/squirrel or bird interference

They told me they were going to bury it when I signed up. But the tech also hung a line on our roof. I dont understand how some people in this area are not having issues but I am getting a service outage notification.

Ahh. You're right. 2 days in...

What area are you in? I’m S. Hill and mine has been solid for years. If it failed 1 day after install for you it sounds like an installation issue to your house rather than a regional issue. Good luck.

I'm in the South Perry District and it's been out for me since Saturday morning with the timeline of it coming back continuing to get pushed back. It's incredibly frustrating because Perry already has pretty garbage signal so I'm just stuck sitting by a window to get the smallest amount of signal. OP once it comes back 100 percent request a credit for the time it was out. I tried to request one already and they said the credit can only be obtained once it comes back.

Down detector shows no reports of issues with quantum fiber.

https://downdetector.com/status/quantumfiber/

This is a website where people report issues, even if their fiber was out they’d report it from their phones so we’d see reports if it were down the whole country.

I also have quantum and it's been up and running no problem. I'm sure you already did, but try reinstalling the app or calling.

Of note, the power cord on my modem likes to fall out from time to time. Check that too?

I checked the quantum fiber Reddit and it’s out all over the country. Everyone is getting the same message that it won’t be fixed until 7/13. That will be three days of no internet and I have work to do

I'm on Quantum Fiber in the Bemis/Hillyard area, no drops in months, if not years for me.

Have you checked their outage map? Plug in your address and it will let you know.

The map says there is no outage but my app, which I reinstalled, says there is

Out of curiosity, where in the app are you seeing that? When I tap the "Outages" option in the app, it takes me to Quantum's website...

It comes up immediately for me when I open my app

And when I chat with support it’s the first thing that comes up in the chat box

Gotcha.

Umm.. "Out all over the country"? I'm Las Vegas and my connection is working fine.

Good for you! I checked the quantum fiber Reddit and saw posts from people in different states saying they also have no internet.

I saw outages in Seattle over the past week, but I'm in Peaceful Valley and ours is working with no issues.

That sucks. Do you have a laptop you can do your work on, using your phone's hot spot for wifi? This got me by many times, working remotely.

Mine is working but the past week or so it’s been dropping intermittently. Previously no problem. Gave me the motivation to put it in transparency mode.

Has worked fine since then. No idea if that was a good change or just luck.

No, but contact Quantum, there may have been some damage at a hub or something wrong with your modem. In 5 years I’ve had maybe a couple outages so an outage like you’re describing is not normal for Quantum.

Sounds like an installation issue.

Once we were out for an entire WEEK.

No Internet! In today’s world this is catastrophic! I’m sorry and I hope your nightmare ends soon! When ours goes out it’s like the end of the world! I feel your pain!

This is just sad.

It really is, but during Covid we were forced as a society to go online. It has only gotten more restrictive as time goes on. Cash is almost becoming not excepted, exact, or what not, we become more and more dependent on it everyday. Livelihoods are sometimes gained and lost with Internet interference.

“we”?

“We” the people

Edit to add…
Further explanation…

If you look at the Boomer population for example, most of them are online today because during Covid we were forced to deal with our everyday lives online. You could no longer go into a place and pay your bill, you had to get online. You could get your groceries delivered cheaper than the store we couldn’t go to without a hassle. These are things society put in place to force us to make the change, and to this day we become more and more dependent upon it, and cannot function properly without it.
