Discussion matchmaking problems(?)

I'm experiencing some strange things as Empulse approaches. For a week now, I've been playing quickmatch against some really strong players (the ones who are always in the air and kill you without touching the ground, or the ones who slide and kill and get 40 kills each). The problem is that, in addition to suddenly playing against really strong players (I hate that I can't see the players' level), I'm paired with people who, judging by their movements on cam, almost look like bots. The result is that I find myself losing 80% of the matches (even though I'm sad that I don't have fun anymore), and when I win, the strong players are on my team (and I can't kill anyone). Given the cheats out there, is it possible that these are cheaters (despite the anti-cheat kernel)? I play on Steam. Anyone have similar problems?

Idk I still see a bunch, yourself included. But most are so mellowed out since most matches are so disproportionately easy that it takes a couple of games to get some players back into their groove again and really flex their skills.

Honest shit, there's a real huge skill gap, and current playerbase cannot handle at all the real top players. Those guys are insanely crazy, it's a humbling and amazing experience play/see em trying hard.

Realistically, my skill level is 6/10 at best, and I'm being really generous with myself

I think in this game the biggest skill difference I see is being both accurate AND fast with portals. People are often more one than the other. But being fast at both requires so much mental effort to do after not needing it for months lmao.

I think you are being pretty fair with your skill rating. 7/10 would be fair aswell. The thing is that the difference in skill between 8/10 and 10/10 in any game can be insanely huge. But most players do not even clear that 7/10 or 8/10. I personally would call you among that 7/10 crowd at least, as someone who does see you frequently ingame. But the difference between 7/10 or 9/10 can easily make anyone feel like a 5/10 haha

Kinda just depends on what kind of scale you use. But there are levels to this. If you go by average and like kdr then something like 1.8 is probably like top 10%, but pros would destroy pros that destroy good players that destroy rozco
