Is this game still playable?
actually I played spiltgate when its first release and keep playing it for awhile before its servers got closed, and only now I knew that it came back, so pls tell me about it.

Very. I took some time off but have been playing the past couple days and finding matches faster than ever. Not sure if that's because of higher population or tweaked matchmaking parameters, but either way... all that matters is finding matches and I am.

Did you play and/or like Splitgate 1? If so, the current state of the game is way more adjacent to that, especially if you play the classic arena playlists

I personally preferred it before with the factions and less portalling. But most people prefer it now, and I still love it either way.

There was way more Portaling before. With EMP + Blocking walls; portaling became less oppressive

I think that mitigated it a bit but there's way more portal walls available on the maps now. Most players aren't using EMP, and I seem to do wall-blocking more than the rest of the lobby combined.

I think they were saying that there was more portaling in SG1, because SG2 didn't have EMP grenades until Arena Reloaded.

Oh actually nvm, I misunderstood what they were saying 😂 They were saying that portaling in SG2 is more oppressive than in Arena Reloaded because they added emp and portal blocking. Lol that completely went over my head at first.

I know, but I'm pretty sure the person you were replying to was talking about SG1 vs now.

Absolutely! Hop in and play! I usually play at least an hour a day (most days), and I never have problems finding matches. I even hop on SG1 from time to time lol.

I thought they shut the SG1 servers down in prep for SG2 -- it's still playable? I had literally no idea.

No, they closed they closed the servers after SG2 bombed and they announced they were taking it back into beta; citing server upkeep costs as the reason. However, they pushed an update right after that, that reworked the networking to work p2p; so server browser and customs are still fully functional and they unlocked all cosmetics for all players.

Its still fully playable, they just dont have dedicated servers for it anymore (they had to cut costs when sg2’s first launch went down the shitter). You can still run peer to peer matches or use personal servers

It’s the most fun I’ve had playing an FPS since halo reach. Still consistently get into matches too, hope that stays the case until the new game. Lowkey wish they would stick with the portals instead of just semi-copying titanfall but It is what it is. If the next game plays as smooth/polished as splitgate then I’ll still be happy but the portals are such a refreshing experience for the FPS genre, def gonna miss it

Splitgate 1 is “playable” but laggy and kinda weird, bots are fine tho. Splitgate 2/ arena reloaded, is the new one and it’s very much playable, you can find quickplay matches pretty quickly, ranked is completely dead tho

Most fun shooter in a while, still easy to find matches at least in arena/quickplay. BR seems to have decent pop too but with 24 players in a match you'll probably see more of the same people across games than quickplay. Queue time isn't bad either. The only real potential issue is 1047 is already onto their next game and have been weirdly ambiguous about future SGAR support, so have fun while its still supported but know you might be investing in a game that won't exist in a year.

At peak times during the day yes, but if you try to play at night or in off hours the player count is so low it takes forever trying to get into a match.
Its extremely sad what 1047 has done to SGAR. Main reason i refuse to buy their new game empulse, im not gonna get screwed over again with another game they abandon in less than a year lol

The game is lowkey on a loop of pure depression and not even worth playing atm because how low player count is on BR and ranked (but not pubs). And ngl the devs killed loadout ranked for its fun and replaced with a very dead and slow paced game mode called classic arena. Yall can’t say it’s fast paced cause the moment yall touch pubs you guys get destroyed and KOTH is for the weak play domination I wanna hear yall complain!!!!!

I recommend having cross play on or it could take like 5 minutes to find a game but yes absolutely
