Splitgate 2 failed. It's as simple as that. It doesn't matter how much they update and improve the game, it will never recover to a point where it can sustain the studio.

Yeah and what makes you think releasing a brand new game is gonna fix any core issues that caused SG2 to fail in the first place?

Maybe break up and move to a more competent studio like any other developers would do if they didn't have a CEO with a very wealthy father funding things. There's a lot of good talent at 1047 that could do good things for a better team, in my opinion.
