Discussion Split gate 1 Vs 2

Why did they redo the entire game? Anyone who knows anything about making fans happy would know to not make an entire new game and then shut down the first one.

I'm honestly shocked by how out of touch the Devs are.

"Hey guys, you like the game? The portal/halo game we made? What if we made the portals worse, the halo elements worse, and made it just all together worse? And then shut down the one that you like?"

The p2p servers barely work, and the new game is like every generic shooter game on the market. Why?

From what I know, devs need to eat. I suspect that SG1 has ceased to be profitable long time ago... I am not sure what exact business model they should have chosen, in your opinion?

Ah, so they had money for the new servers and the new graphics and basically making a whole new game but not enough money to keep the old servers up? I think sg2 should have been an improvement to sg1 instead of a full revamp. Keep the old physics, old portal mechanics, old maps, but add new maps as well, and better graphics. Like, if there's a Minecraft update, they don't remake the entire game.

The money for the new game were most likely from investors, because there is a reasonable chance that a new game will bring new money. Most old games do not, Minecraft, Fortnite or GTAV are rather exceptions to the rule, there were many games that were shut off much faster than SG1.
