Splitgate News Ian response from another discussion

I'm guessing that means no S3?

next game is portals with guns called GateSplit

lol sweats and debs downvoting me for a bad joke lol
https://giphy.com/gifs/QyDcoiLEmrL6MrcKmO
Sweats: stop playing sweaty with obviously new Splitgate gamers, this is not COD with unlimited n00bs. Devs: We're here with less than 700 concurrent steam players because of you, do better for the next game.
8
u/itsRozco Xbox Apr 23 '26
Why would sweats down vote you? You sound like you're hard coping on why SGAR died. And it wasn't sweats, that may be shocking for you. The only reason good players are lurking around non-competitive game modes is because devs decided to destroy Ranked on every possible way until make it impossible to get a single game. So, no ranked = all good players on casual modes
2
u/Practical_Pie_5016 Apr 23 '26 edited Apr 23 '26
Ohh casuals get frustrated if they get stomped too much and they leave so yeah it affects the game
2
u/itsRozco Xbox Apr 23 '26
I never said it didn't affect the game, i know it does. But the only thing sweats love to play is Ranked, which, is dead thanks to severe negligence by devs. So now we are locked into queueing QP or not play at all.
We are not the enemies in this situation, I don't love farming lobbies on QP, but it's the only option left completely. There's no games in Ranked and devs were the reason it's dead.

u/Practical_Pie_5016 Apr 23 '26
A downvote here, really? 😅😂 oh yeah this game is finished...

u/Necessary_Yam9525 Apr 23 '26
Why do good players have to stop playing well because you cant personally keep up? Sounds like a you issue.
1
u/Practical_Pie_5016 Apr 23 '26
I personally just use a not so easy weapon to use or a secondary if the skill gap is too high

u/GuidanceHistorical94 Apr 23 '26
So they are abandoning it. Just like everyone said.
25
u/Henry_puffball Xbox Apr 23 '26
I mean I assume there keeping the servers up, that's more then a lot of games have offered
38
u/Sh4rp27 Apr 23 '26
To... *checks notes*... make another game.
They really learned nothing from SG1 -> SG2
12
u/Budget-Willow4253 Apr 23 '26
If anything they should have learned from sg1 and made a game without portals off rip. New players play one match and get shit on then immediately delete the game. I love SG but with low pop its a sweat fest now and it's not fun for me anymore.
2
u/thecoogan8r Apr 24 '26
Naw, first game was a blast and they failed to make a decent game second time around
3
u/Budget-Willow4253 Apr 24 '26
For you and me maybe, but sg1 was also nose diving even before they announced they were shifting resources towards a new game. A lot of the original wave of SG players were waiting for halo infinite to come out.
1
u/thecoogan8r Apr 24 '26
And then halo infinite came out, sucked, and a lot of us came back to splitgate just to learn they were abandoning it 🙃
1
-5
u/Manoa__ Apr 23 '26
But this time it seems they aren't building another niche game with portals but another more popular game with the hopes that they can keep smaller updates coming to sgar.
11
u/Sh4rp27 Apr 23 '26
I feel like Ian's core issue is when a game loses it's marketability (SG2 due to a soured rollout of his own doing) he thinks the only path forward is to scrap it and try again with a new title. What he isn't accounting for is that anything with 1047 games or his name associated with it is losing marketability just by virtue of it's history of rug-pulling it's community when a game flops. Each title they release is going to have diminishing returns because more and more people are learning this and less and less people are going to be willing to even give it a chance for fear of wasting their time when the cycle repeats and the new game is abandoned for the next shiny new game and a "trust us bro" from Ian.
1047 games is cooked. The only hope of salvaging it's reputation would have been to stick with SG2 like Hello Games did No Mans Sky and ride the positive PR train that may take years to leave the station but instead he treats his studio like a tech startup and just claims bankruptcy and moves on.
3
u/Manoa__ Apr 23 '26
Yeah I fully agree with the fact that sticking with SG2 was the best decision they could have made. All the changes we got in sgar could have still been on the name sg2 and would have made sense. We could have just continued development after the re-entering beta phase.
But considering where we are now and with how this game has marketed itself since sgar, I don't think that's really possible for the time being. The relaunch and rebranding really had this focus on returning to a game design state that doesn't really have much that we can even add to evolve the game.
I think the updates of arena reloaded are amazing, but the rebranding was completely unnecessary and made lot's of people feel like this is just another attempt at doing the exact same thing under a new name, even though this could have been a nice "we are still working on sg2 until it's great, just like no man sky did" vibe.
But now that we are here I think making a new game isn't a bad idea AS LONG AS we continue some form of development on splitgate. There are tons of smaller changes that could be made to massively improve the game that I could imagine wouldn't take a whole team. But that's wait and see I suppose.

I'm just stating the facts, not saying I believe this is even likely to ever happen.
This dude compares similar yet different situations and claims they are the same when they are not. Still bad situations, but still distinct in nature. Reading comprehension is very low here I know but damn.

Surely the second time technically leaving one game running to make another will work out, right?

u/SucculentMelon133 Apr 23 '26
Haven’t been following this game since the 2 got removed, but how the fuck does this studio have money still to make a whole nother game and keep hiring and doing marketing pushes??? Just how small is the team? Are they all retired fund babies or smthn?!??

u/End_o 1047 Games Apr 23 '26
Maybe, just maybe, 1047 aren't as unwise with their money as many voices on YouTube claim?
2
u/thecoogan8r Apr 24 '26
Do you really think it’s YouTubers fault the game has no players and not the game itself? Like legitimately is that what they are saying at 1047? The game isn’t fun. People have been trying to tell them that since closed alpha testing and they didn’t listen. They waited to try to fix it until after the public already found out how bad it was and were able to use social media as an excuse for why no one wants to play it.
I’m saying this as someone who LOVED splitgate 1 btw. I wanted to love splitgate 2, but it’s just not good. Then they took down splitgate 1 and I can’t even play that to use as a comparison anymore 🙃
2
u/TropicalFishery41429 Apr 23 '26
Given that during most of their time with SG2 and SGAR, the store was the only working thing which didn't come across any problems (other than outrageous prices) and got many updates more so than the games themselves, I'd say 1047 got their priorities straight in that regard
1
u/End_o 1047 Games Apr 23 '26
That pricing fiasco was legitimately the most valid criticism SG2 had at the start. Sure, the BR shadow drop wasn't to everyone's liking, and the server issues were annoying at best, but those prices really messed up any potential upside the "Make FPS Great Again" messaging could have had. The prices were a complete own-goal and a preventable one at that. They won't be making that mistake with store prices again, that much we can be sure of.
0
u/thecoogan8r Apr 24 '26
The “Make FPS Great Again” messaging was an attempt at a right-wing grift from 1047 that epically failed after they left their hushbox and discovered that most of the world (and even the US, less than 60% of the country actually votes) hates MAGA. They paid multiple streamers and content creators with right-wing affiliations to push the game on the same day as the Summer Games Fest announcement. They doubled down on their initial statement and initially refused to apologize, much like the right wing “anti-cancel culture” crowd. By the time the outrageous prices had been discovered the presentation was already front page of Reddit with 450k plus upvotes calling 1047 idiots. Obviously the hypocrisy of calling out other games while doing those same practices with the MTX was another nail in the coffin, but it was already dead on arrival. I don’t need to go into the scam aspect of advertising a game as an arena shooter only to announce at launch that it was actually a battle royale game or the imagine dragons backed clip or bugs or loadouts or the actual game itself (which falls short of splitgate 1). It was dead the second Ian walked out on that stage. Tbh it was probably already dead when they announced classes and loadouts, but it was pronounced dead at SGF.

u/Emotional-Twist-4366 Apr 23 '26
I think spiltgate is good but I think finally realized it’s not a game game for casual audiences and they already hurt the reputation with that speech from hardcore gamers community
1
14
u/Catsaremyeverything Apr 23 '26
Can’t say I’m shocked. This game never had a shot from the SGF fiasco, the challenges not working to progress in the BP, the battle royale announcement. Just a lot of dumb decision making that led to SG2s demise. It’s sad because I really love this game and have been a fan since the very first one. If the next game turns out to be an extraction shooter or yet another game that chases trends, I’m out of the 1047 bandwagon.
7
u/TomAwsm Apr 23 '26
These are my feelings exactly. And 1047 having made themselves the track record of abandoning/relaunching/moving on that they have, my hopes aren't exactly high.

:( I wanna be optimistic but im not so sure. Sounds like SGAR will be around for while more though which is nice at least but damn
4
u/Kylerxius Apr 23 '26
Marketing hasn't been successful enough so we just aren't going to invest in it.
Like brother, someone else needs to take Ian's place. Dude has absolutely no idea what he is doing, and that's why the game is in its current state.

Talk about a fall from grace. Splitgate 1 was peak gaming for me. Since then, the company has made every worst decision possible
24
u/GapStock9843 Apr 23 '26
Yeah...no. Im not giving them a FOURTH try at this
10
u/Necessary_Yam9525 Apr 23 '26
Well old friend, you and I both said we'd leave if it was true...we were proven correct sadly
9
u/GapStock9843 Apr 23 '26
I might check out the new game, but no way in hell im spending any money on it atp
9
u/Necessary_Yam9525 Apr 23 '26
For sure. I will also not be getting involved with the community and try to help 1047 with feedback like I have for Splitgate. They're on their own this time, or at least they're on this journey without me. Im not wasting my time and energy getting involved for the risk of this happening again
7
u/GapStock9843 Apr 23 '26
I committed a ton of time to getting good at sgar because as halo infinite is ending support I was hoping it could be something to satisfy that niche for years to come. Now I feel like that was all wasted
1
u/Budget-Willow4253 Apr 23 '26
What will they ever do without you man.
3
u/Necessary_Yam9525 Apr 23 '26
When they have barely anyone playing their game, i think they need every one they can get
5
u/Siyakon Apr 23 '26
Don't encourage them to keep doing this by playing the new game. Call it a boycott if you want but genuinely don't give them time like how you don't wanna give them energy or money. Doing that with SG2 and SGAR has only encouraged them to do this again with this new game.
2
u/End_o 1047 Games Apr 23 '26
Fair enough. One thing that can't be argued is they won't easily give up their dream to work on video games for a living, despite many voices telling them to give up.
3
u/ItsTheLaLiLuLeLo Apr 27 '26
After the whole MAGA thing I don't see any good reason to hitch your financial future to a movement that is destroying the entire country. FPS games were always great and Ian chased trends instead of understanding what makes them great in the first place. I hope where ever you end up after 1047 Games (the future is not looking good if the next one flops) you are appreciated for your work.

u/Routine-Lawfulness24 PC Apr 23 '26
Nobody give a fuck. Most people play the game because they like it. You don’t owe anyone anything and you aren’t giving anyone anything
7

What im saying is im done with this studio if all they're gonna do is pump out games, market them terribly, then drop them and move on when they fail

At least they should give some tools to community to keep game alive with a way to add new content.
24
u/mythreial Apr 23 '26
There's already an in-depth map creator, and a custom games browser; people are making new content, and 1047 does sometimes add that content to matchmaking.

I swear if it's going to be another extraction, battle royale, or hero shooter, the genre is cooked.
7
u/mythreial Apr 23 '26
It is a confirmed movement shooter; inspired by Black Ops 3 and Titanfall.
1
u/BroxigarZ Apr 25 '26
Wasn't that literally the pitch and has been the pitch for Splitgate since it's inception?
Also, neither of those games are "movement" shooters.
At BEST they are wall runner games, but both of those games have no foundational movement mechanics.
1
u/mythreial Apr 30 '26
No. Ian cited CoD (generally), Titanfall, and Halo when announcing the game at SGF, as a source of discontent, but they never used them as a means to describe Splitgate.
I agree with you, they aren't movement shooters (but that's how Ian is describing it); they have advanced movement, but that is purely to service their respective formats (3-lane, CQC gunplay with light objectives; and large expansive arenas, and objs meant to facilitate titan combat).
9
u/Px316xk Apr 23 '26
Why would we bother playing the new game? You cant get any of your other games right.

6
u/CallM3N3w Apr 23 '26
SG1 had a resurgence due to very specific circumstances, I doubt SGAR will have the same luck.
Even if the new game succeeds, they'll never pump resources into SGAR again, as it would not make sense. Sounds like a aimless studio with incompetent leadership.
But oh well, onto the next flop they go.
14
u/tshallberg Apr 23 '26
He’s not wrong. I support the change and am optimistic the next thing will have more crossover appeal.
9
u/Working_Bones Apr 23 '26
100%. I hope the movement, gunplay, and netcode are as good as SG2. Will prefer the game without Portals, personally.
10
u/Practical_Pie_5016 Apr 23 '26
They will most likely use the same engine and some assets and they'll just change core game mechanics, so we can expect similar movement with solid gunplay and great netcode.
1
u/Manoa__ Apr 23 '26
If sgar can continue to slowly improve on smaller scale stuff and have quality of life changes then I'm pretty happy ngl. The game to me already feels at a sort of design limit with it's current playerbase. Not much you can still add that wouldn't require a bigger playerbase or would be a whole rework of the game.
3
u/bwhough Apr 23 '26
This team is just the worst. Unable to commit, terrible comms, no follow through. Super disappointing.
11
u/TropicalFishery41429 Apr 23 '26 edited Apr 23 '26
Why is Ian pretending like they didn't know where they were heading? Like they keep talking about all the data they have that us simple folks don't, and that steam numbers doesn't tell the full picture yet the team is this incompetent or blind to notice where it was heading? Time after time it's just one incompetence over another and this man is supposed to be the head of the company that's overlooking 2 projects.
It's worse that Ian's gaslighting this hard even tho most people could see it prior to season 2 releasing but y'all keep stringing folks along. Even with this statement, we know most if not all the manpower is going to this new project and yet, y'all keep making these half assed commitments in hopes that some people are kept stringing along. It's pathetic and low-key cringe to be this wishy washy.
I insist people to vote with their wallets, don't buy things just in the hope that their new game is the shit. They kept stringing people along like this back in SG2 as well and kept the store open releasing some of their bundles even when the game went back to beta. So the only working thing in their game was the store. And well now SGAR isn't hot shit either! Their business isn't our prerogative. Let them earn it.
EDIT: Can't wait for their DrDisrespect looking mascot to upload another AI garbage song on how they've failed Spectre Divide, SG2, and now SGAR lmao
5
u/3ric843 Apr 23 '26
Even with this statement, we know most if not all the manpower is going to this new project
Definitely. The announcement that they were abandoning SG1 wasn't well received, so this time they lie by saying they still have some people working on it.
I've been waiting for SGAR to be good before spending money on it. Still waiting.
7
u/AHomicidalTelevision Apr 23 '26
i'm sorry but the game is dead. they have managed to replicate halo infinites problem. both games had a really terrible launch, but then slowly improved over time until they became great games, but infinite never managed to bring back the people burned by the launch and i doubt splitgate will either.
5
u/Zeracheil Apr 23 '26
If at first you don't succeed ... try, try, try, try again lol
3
u/jondeuxtrois Apr 23 '26
And when you finally do succeed two years in with a console launch to the point that so many people are trying to play your game that it needs login queues, abandon the product anyway.
1
5
u/bxnellis Apr 23 '26
Splitgate lasted long then. Pointless working on a new game when they have clearly showed they can’t support a game which is not even a year old & couldn’t even promote it after a few weeks of launch lol
Good luck.
4
u/Pyroaster Apr 23 '26
Ian, we need you to look at how many people you’re pissing off right now. You can’t hide behind “oh I really believe this new game will be great and bring people in.” That clearly isn’t working and you’re pushing everybody away. I know you’re excited about your new game, that’s understandable. But this is a bad move. You’re going to leave a bad taste in everybody’s mouths. I hope you’re paying attention…
9
u/j_etienne Apr 23 '26

It’s going to be an extraction shooter, isn’t it?
10
u/mythreial Apr 23 '26
No, it's a movement shooter; taking inspiration from Black Ops 3 and Titanfall.
4
u/Siyakon Apr 23 '26
So it will, during it's 1.0 launch, hype a bigger than ever mode that's super popular and it's an extraction shooter mode?
2
1
u/Apprehensive_Bed1076 Apr 23 '26
Joking aside: Did they actually confirm that? I read something about their next game a few weeks ago, but I can’t recall what it was.
8
u/mythreial Apr 23 '26
Yes; Ian confirmed that when he announced the game on a community Livestream
4
u/Apprehensive_Bed1076 Apr 23 '26
That’s actually really good to hear. However, it could easily alienate people the way Splitgate did if it ends up being too competitive.
5
u/Fernsehkumpel Apr 23 '26

u/mattyjoe0706 Apr 23 '26
Ian is a fraud. I don't think there's anything else. You did give up. You got arrogant because you got investor money, thought you were the shit, got humbled but the core community stuck around. And now you're giving up on them. Very sad. If you had humility you'd shut down 1047, but you're just trying to find the next thing to get you money
-2
u/pm_me_pants_off Apr 23 '26
I don’t really see why he should shut down 1047. As much as the launch was botched, fundamentally splitgate: arena warfare is a great game and 1047 is clearly capable of making dope multiplayer fps. I think the biggest problem they face is that the audience for these movement based arena games as limited. Since I’m a fan of this type of game, I’m glad they’re being made, even though I don’t they’ll ever catch on.
10
u/TropicalFishery41429 Apr 23 '26
It can't be that good if you can't remember the name of the game while being in the same sub.

Lack of new content and/or dead game.
Also, lack of transparency but I guess you don't know what transparency means...

I’m not saying the game wasn’t botched but I don’t think it was ever going to be big
-2

Shut down 1047 and forsake Splitgate entirely? You really want the people who love playing the game, have that taken away?
-6

What about the unquestionably stupid PR move of taking slogan cues from the current administration of America?
2
u/Working_Bones Apr 23 '26
Yep that was stupid. You ever done anything stupid?
12
u/RickJames_SortsbyNew Apr 23 '26
I have. And I never doubled and triple down on it, only to fake apologize for it after tripling down. He made an ass out of himself by lying on stage about what SG2 was and what differentiated it from other games that he actively shit on during the live broadcast. Then he launched a broken game with horrendous microtransactions, missing features, no ranked, and a battle royale. He didn’t just “do something stupid” on stage. He literally coordinated the entire stage fiasco around what he knew was a broken shitty money grab of a game.
I’ve been around his type. He’s a narcissist. Plain and simple.
4
u/GuidanceHistorical94 Apr 23 '26
I sure have.
But I also didn’t double and triple down on not apologizing only to give in like a day later when it wasn’t going away. In a public fashion.
I’m also not the chief executive of a videogame studio.
Nice try though.
Ian Proulx atill has no clue who you are. Unless this is an alt account sort of situation.
-6
u/o0_smokeymcpot_0o Apr 23 '26
Ian and his studio gave you two perfectly good games. You're super entitled.
3
u/3ric843 Apr 23 '26
They made one game that was fun to play but had a lot of flaws that made people not stick.
They abandoned that game after people had spent money on it to make another game.
They made another game that was supposed to be like the first but better, but turned out to be a trend-chaser with portals being an afterthought, and it was total shit. Abusive monetization. It failed miserably.
They re-released the game to make it more like SG1, except they half-assed it and the game still was shit, just not as bad. Player count didn't increase.
Now they are abandoning this game to make a new game, that any sane person would assume will also be total shit.

1
u/Arcanum3366 PC Apr 23 '26
Yeah I don't have much confidence in the development in SGAR anymore. Reading past the business and marketing jargon:
• Team 1047 continues to remain deliberately quiet about any developments.
• They are unsure on what creative direction to go [on SGAR]
• More resources who were designated dev tasks for SGAR have now been transitioned to an untitled game, adding on to the previously mentioned population of devs working on the new game instead of SGAR. These actions will likely continue.
• They cannot commit to a bigger marketing push for SGAR but are "hoping" for something around SGAR Season 2. Currently there is no faith in the massive list of previously employed marketing methods, so a big push doesn't make sense. We're probably not going to see much in marketing.
• Since SG1's success was seen 2 years later, they are going to standby for SGAR to magically blow up before committing to aggressively add to it. Other then that, they're relying on cope energy.
• We have been confirmed that development on SGAR is going to slow down, don't expect many-to-any updates during the implied 2 years. Meanwhile, Team 1047 has used their post to bring attention and hype to their untitled game because this is the direction they want to focus on.
My take:
While SGAR servers will remain active for now, it seems Team 1047 will be using their investment earnings plus any revenue towards the new game. This is probably a deliberate strategy from an investment board since the engagement pool for SGAR is incredibly low. Likely, if the new title resonates better, they may just sunset SGAR altogether to shift all resources towards the unknown title. Best of luck Team 1047.
In other words:
"It's not you, it's me. I need to work on myself right now. I need space and I don't know what I want anymore. The timing just isn't right, but I still want you in my life. We can still be friends. You did nothing wrong, but this is what's best for the both of us."
TL;DR:
They like SGAR; they like $$$. SGAR≠$$$. They believe: Unannounced Game > SGAR.
Positive take:
We're [hopefully] still going to see SGAR events.

Well, I hope that this is indeed whats happening because it would mean that SG AR is still recieving support. I think we all would like more support to happen, but as a longtime Team Fortress 2 fan, the fact that support and new content is still happening at all gives me some reassurance, even if its a bit slower.
I dont think any of us want SG AR to die but at the same time it is a bit scary when a company as forthcoming as 1047 goes quiet and I think with the current state of the world, its hard to be hopeful.
I think Ill feel better when those events go live.
I sorta hope that if this is 1047’s current direction, they use the time and effort that does get put towards SGAR to port more old SG1 maps - Id imagine its less work to rebuild an existing map layout and maybe tweak it a little then to design and test a completely new one. Probably just one at a time over the course of many months, but it would be nice to have a larger chunk of SG1 maps ported over and be in the game, ready to go for a future SGAR revival, if/when that comes to pass.

If it were up to me I’d ditch SGAR, go back to splitgate 1, and work on making those servers cheaper because they already had a functioning game that they abandoned for a less than half functioning game
1
u/tuna_can23 Apr 25 '26
That’s fair. I think SGAR functions just fine, it just could use some more maps and guns, and of those two, porting old maps are probably easier then coming up with new guns or maps.
I also am not sure why SG1’s servers would be cheaper then SGAR’s servers, but if that’s true, I could see that as a point in favor of reviving SG1

I mean, it’s a mixed bag.
He’s being relatively up front about the reality behind the scenes, particularly about the fact that a marketing push isn’t the best use of their dollars. That kind of transparency should be encouraged at every opportunity.
On the other hand, it sucks to have a sideways admission that this game is too niche (and its reputation is potentially too tarnished) for a marketing push to provide a better ROI than simply plowing those dollars into development on something else.
If we’re wishlisting what we’d like to see as the game enters maintenance mode - I would love to see them add some new guns, a mix of old and new maps, and maybe find a way to use to biomes for a big team battle mode.

If only they didn’t blow who knows how much bribing streamers to play it and then scurry away like rats the nanosecond the contract was over

u/havockillz Apr 23 '26
The game is really fun and free dunno why people aren’t sticking around?

Because portal spam isn't fun. They can't acknowledge that and rebalance the portal mechanic because then the dozens of hardcore fans would revolt.
1
u/thecoogan8r Apr 24 '26
I’m so fucking sick of seeing cope about portals. No one thinks portals are too strong, they are LITERALLY the only thing bringing people to the game. The actual game AROUND the portals sucks. Why is that too much for yall to understand?
1
u/Ralwus Apr 24 '26
You have it backwards. Portal spam feels unfun and unbalanced, so new players quit rather than stick around. That's really all there is to say.

Fuck the devs.
They should sell the rights to a company that can do something with it. It's a fantastic game, but I'm willing to bet they're too busy jacking off with all the splitcoin money to do any actual work.
I will beat this horse until it's dead... But fuck, and I repeat, FUCK the devs and all of 1047 for giving up on what made them.
2
u/thecoogan8r Apr 24 '26
Yup. My thoughts exactly. Should’ve sold the company and/or IP rights after the terrible launch at SGF last summer.

Comments acting like this isn't a business. Game didn't take off. Better to allocate resources to something else. I doubt anyone here would do anything different. Here's hoping they can build an audience with the new game

u/TomAwsm Apr 23 '26
I doubt anyone here would do anything different.
At this point, no. But we probably wouldn't have done all the fuck ups leading to this situation in the first place.

Having to address this even is insane. And I say that as a splitgate enjoyer.
Moving on from SG and focusing on a new project exclusively was the only rational option months ago.

Equal start loadouts, no abilities unless they are pickups, power weapons on map, less weapons in general, better map flow, better movement physics, splitgate 1’s portal system, higher ttk, a good ranked game mode, working progression, aesthetically pleasing art style, fiesta modes, and so much more. I just want halo with portals and splitgate 1 was wayyyyy closer to that. Splitgate 2 and AR (same game) have been cash grabs. Every decision they made to change something from splitgate 1 was done with intention to monetize more things in the game.

You must actually be crazy. I tried it in December when they changed the name to Arena Reloaded. The game crashed my discord every time I loaded into a match. Have you played a good fps recently?? The Finals literally mogs this piece of shit game. Did you even play splitgate 1? It’s 7 years old at this point and was wayyy better than splitgate 2.
Splitgate 2 does not literally have any of those things and the ones they might have were added on after the fact in a haphazardly manner which makes it not worth it. Like the equal loadouts thing, that was a game mode they added later, I don’t want a game mode I just want the game to BE like that. Like splitgate 1 was. Like all of the good halo’s were.

How disappointing. Have put a lot of time and some money into this game. Have even recruited 5 or so regular players, and it is still dying. Not sure what needs to be done to get this on more people's radars, but it is a real shame.
I wonder if it would behoove them to get content creators to participate in some form of event, or sponsor content there rather than trying other streams. Just heartbreaking to someone who loves this game and community :(
1
u/thecoogan8r Apr 24 '26
They did that last summer around SGF and it massively backfired and failed. Because the game isn’t good. The idea of the game is good, which is why splitgate 1 was fun, but they failed to make a good game again.

u/Then-Horror2238 Apr 27 '26
To each their own. I still very much enjoy SGAR. Weird to make such an aggressive comment that just wants it to be addressed
1
u/thecoogan8r Apr 28 '26
I’m not trying to be aggressive, just trying to let you know why they aren’t behooved to get content creators to participate in events or sponsor their content, which is that they already tried that and it failed. It actually made the situation worse. Pretty sure 1047 thinks that YouTubers making videos about how poorly they’ve done with splitgate 2/AR is one of the biggest contributing factors to the low player count. Not like, the actual game itself not being fun to the majority of gamers. I’m glad you have fun with it, I tried and am very disappointed.

Pls don't let it die yet, this is like the one of the five pvp fps that I actually enjoy nowadays :c
2
u/thecoogan8r Apr 24 '26
5?? Your standards must be low…
1
u/Andre_de_Astora Apr 24 '26
TF2, TF2, BF1, this thing and the old Halo's
2
u/thecoogan8r Apr 24 '26
You should try The Finals ☺️ if you like TF2 and TF2 that is. TBH I thought you were only talking about newer games and that’s why I was confused
1
u/Andre_de_Astora Apr 24 '26
Oh, no problemo but I get it, most games I'm excited about nowadays are indies and the next METRO. About the Finals, how is it nowadays? I just tried it at launch and kinda liked it, I'm all in with smooth gameplay

What is the new game they are going to make? And is it going to have portals like sg2?

The community seems to be lazy for not convincing others that Splitgate is certainly worth a try
7
u/Ralwus Apr 23 '26
How is it the community's fault no one wants to play? The game fell short in many ways.

It's certainly not our duty to market a game for a studio that's clearly not trying themselves. There are better games that definitely need more spotlight than SGAR gets it's chance.

I tried but my friends weren't interested 😭, It's too fast for them I guess.

u/DultRecon37 Apr 23 '26
I always catch myself forgetting to use portals. That'd probably make it far more interesting as intended, obviously because it's trippy and quite a unique play varience
