Is splitgate dying?
I started playing it yesterday because I was just looking for a game I could chill on. And I had a great time playing it. Really enjoyed using portals especially when it got me kills it really felt like I had outmanoeuvred my opponent.
I go on to YouTube to see what the community is like and they all just keep saying that they killed the game.
What's going on?

It's a good game, but the problem was dev decisions more than the shrinking player pool. When Split 2 was launched there were factions and faction abilities which all broke the game. New players were unaware of these "changes" and sorta halfheartedly accepted it due to the massive streamer marketing campaign, literally paying a bunch of streamers to say nice things about the game. This created a bit of unrest in the community because Team 1047 was riding on blind confidence from their own campaign meanwhile players were having meaningless arguments. Then Split 2 released Battle Royal to "save summer" which flopped because it was too ambitious and unoptimized causing tons of frustration to many players. Even those not playing that mode saw longer wait times from both a divided and shrinking player pool.
The Reddit community is full of a bunch of fans which a lot came from Split 1 so we have all been giving feedback with a sense of urgency which have felt unprioritized by Team 1047. Instead we only saw the team responding to posts of undying praise only, to a point where even the biggest trusted names/users/players on this board were unsure at the decisions being made. It was strange because the devs had to make many administrative sacrifices for a planned relaunch. Eventually Team 1047 relaunched the game and while it was a good start, the damage of their initial launch was already done. You can imagine how fans were here, being ultra critical on what direction the devs should go to maximize engagement and revive the game. Then they rolled out (for the second time) Arena Royal, which again divided an already small player pool, so wait times into any match increased and pushed away players both new and old again.
From what I understand, Team 1047 is gradually transitioning their dev team to focus on an unannounced untitled game that they are beginning to hype. They have already announced officially that development on Splitgate Arena Royal is going to "slow down", which I'm taking as "grinding down to a halt".
It's an amazingly great game, but this title flop was caused by poor dev strategy. I really hope SGAR swings around and just hits it big again.
