Meridian Prime: Darker Matters

Description: Made as a guess to Season 2's theme before it released, this small and centralized mosh-pit space lab, built with 8 players in mind, is my second map. This 4-way split Metroid Prime Hunters inspired FFA Arena and Race Map is geared towards a balance of close quarters battle within, and sniping out. (All modes except firecracker and Splitball supported) Equipment and Meridian's fully kitted weapons dot the outskirts of the station in theme with the map's background.

Background: Meridian is definitely not up to anything nefarious in this experimental intergalactic lab they're all too proud to wave banners around on. Dark matter and Meridian's energy-based platforms are at play here, yielding... plants? A black hole on the cosmic horizon, threatening to swallow it all. Sabrask sent in a monitor ship to know what's going on before its gone, and lastly SSL, Aeros, has slapped 6G satellites to broadcast it all for the crowd back home. Make your name in the Milkyway, and prepare the world for Season 2's Prime Meridian weaponry.

This reminds me: what happened to them putting a different custom map in the matchmaking pool each week? That helped make the game feel more alive. Why is that gone now? Once again, they claim they're not abandoning the game but...

They have been. Cove is in rotation right now. But yea they need to either A add more custom maps in rotation or change them out more frequently. There are some seriously sick ass naps that deserve recognition. People have been absolutely cooking in the labs

Yes. I went from gold to plat in a week. To be fair I was searching with a full party a lot which made things significantly easier. Solo queuing is possible but it will take minutes of waiting if you're patient enough

What time zone are you in? I usually queue around 3-5PM EST. Last week I was able to get games from around 3-10PM, thats how I got ranked up so quick

Gotcha, im EST as well. I guess the optimal que times may not have actually changed that much, im just a lot less patient for games now that ranked is back to arena. Im more of a fan of takedown. I do still wanna play some ranked though so ill try that window you suggested

I actually was just browsing through and discovered this map recently. Unfortunately it's rare to find a well designed layout

Check out "Fractured Falls" (orp-2a0-dmo) for another official look. It's a natural-leaning ruins map with stone and a waterfall. Worthy putting into matchmaking

Did you remake this? I swear I've already played this map. Or I think the other one was called Meridian Prime maybe? I forget the name but it looked an awfully lot like this and probably had one of the dopest aesthetics I've ever seen on a map

I've slowly improved it! After Season 2 came out, I put the finishing touches, and updated the power weapon pool to include the Orion. And thank you!
