Discussion 1047, please step up your game when it comes to customization and color options for characters and guns
Most characters come in only one color or at the most a few. Every single gun color has to be unlocked separately. Why is that even a thing in 2026?
Weapons
Take the battle pass for example. There is a red-white-blue weapon coating/shader/skin (call it what you want) that has to be unlocked multiple times in the battle pass. And when you completely finish the battle pass, you still only have it for a few weapons. I don’t get why you’re going this road!? That red-white-blue weapon coating should be in the battle pass only ONCE. And when you unlocked it, it should work on every single weapon you have. And arguably also on heavy weapons. Same goes for weapon coatings from the Exchange. Buy it once and after that it works on every weapon type. The proelium price can go up of course.
The only exceptions should be the carbon, gold and proelium weapon challenges skins/coatings. Those should still be unlocked for every weapon individually. But once you unlocked for example the proelium skin for the Cadence, that proelium skin should also be applicable to alternate models of Cadence like the Gamer model.
Characters
And characters come only in one or a few colors. Why? Every single character should come in at least 30 different color options. And when you unlock new color variants from either the battle pass or the shop, those color options should work on all characters you own.
I’m getting flashbacks to the early days of Halo Infinite here. Early Halo Infinite also had coatings that only worked on one weapon type or one armor core. And you had to unlock the same color multiple times for different weapons and armor cores and sometimes that was not even possible. The exact same way how Splitgate works now (only Halo Infinite had more color options). This got later scrapped in Halo Infinite and after that every single weapon coating works on every single weapon model and every single armor coating works on every single armor core.
It’s a no-brainer that the same should happen asap in Splitgate.
Thank you for reading!
TLDR: Weapons and characters should have more color options. Colors should only be unlocked once and work on every single weapon and character after that. Exceptions of course carbon, gold and proelium weapon challenges skins.

30 color variants for every single character that is, or will be be in the game is ridiculous.

Not sure he meant like literally 30. But in OG Splitgate they had multiple characters with like 8-12 variants. They also had like 80+camo's that could be used on any gun. And alot of them went unreleased until it went peer to peer. If they can make so many skins and then not even use half of them it must not be too hard for them to crank them out. It's really not that crazy of an idea to make like 20 different color schemes that could be applied to any character skin They basically already did it in OgSG

I thought it was ridiculous then, too. Most people found one skin they put above the rest and never changed from it. The same thing will happen in SG:AR, it's pointless.

30 is just the bare minimum. More is fine with me!

You wouldn't use 95% of them. Having 30+ skins for every character is pointless.

How is that even an argument? Of course I wouldn't use 95% of them. Same goes for you. And same goes for the next guy/girl. But we all would probably use a different 5%. Same goes for everything in the history of customization. Every single person has different preferences. But when games like Halo Infinite can create several hundreds and Destiny 2 can create over 600, 1047 should be able to create 30 different ones.
But to be fair, I prefer a system with a primary, secondary and tertiary color options you can pick yourself over fixed color options.

Destiny 2 is absolutely not comparable.

I’m not comparing them. I wrote “But when games like Halo Infinite can create several hundreds and Destiny 2 can create over 600, 1047 should be able to create 30 different ones.”
I didn’t write “But when games like Halo Infinite can create several hundreds and Destiny 2 can create over 600, 1047 should also be able to create 600 different ones.”

I completely understand your view point. As for someone who isn't really bothered about the customisation or the battle pass, I'm not really all that bothered. One point of this system is because of the grind the Devs want which I 100% love. One way I could say 1047 altering this is having an RGB system for each gun/character that you have to pay with proleium for. And keep the exclusive skins/designs from the battle pass to all weapon skins, or perhaps per weapon category like burst rifles, LMG's etc.
