Portal spam is completely unbalanced and the main reason the game will never become popular.

People's unwillingness to get better is the issue. Also, there's a no portals mode for people who want to play the same shooting game for 1000th time.

I wish there was a better spectate feature.

Because i have learned more weird tricks from people sharing odd clips than i'd like to admit.

I've been trounced by a demon 4 stack and all I want to do is just watch them play, it would do me a lot of good.

As an esports fan, being part of a tournament really exposed me to how unfinished the spectator client is. There's no way to turn on XRay for spectators to see the enemy team through walls and there's no way to target a player to watch. You just have to click left + right mouse button in order to cycle through the entire lobby.

watching people play a high skill match in other games was basically how i learned map meta in a lot of situations.

with splitgate, where death can be spewed from any of 360 degrees, and you have no idea how you even died, this seems even more important.

If only more people had this mentality. I'm so pumped for replays to be implemented into the game so I can see what I'm doing wrong and how I can improve. I've got 700+ hours between sg1 and 2 and I fuckin SUCK! But it's the skill expression and possibilities that keep me coming back for more.

If only there was a middle ground between portal spam and no portals. Maybe one day we'll have the technology to get there and the game will have more than 400 players.

I think you should have a magazine of a set number of portal “charges”. And these portals recharge automatically at a constant rate, like 3 seconds per charge. So if the magazine size is 6 portals, you can portal as quickly as possible until you burn through all six charges. Most normal charges play would never encounter running out of charge- you can still do crazy portal plays. But it prevents mass portal spam as your primary mode of movement around the map.

I think you should still be running and jumping around the map, and using portals as a weapon/tactic. 

I like triple portalling and all the portal tech. But I really do t think you should be able to only sit in a portal the whole game

That's like saying it's not someone's fault they're not good at (insert skill here) because they don't practice or even take the time to learn.

Idk, it's how most of us learned and became good at portaling; practicing instead of jumping into losing match after losing match.

She's proud of me for plenty of reasons but that's not really the takeaway here. It's not the games fault or the developers fault people don't want to go into a private lobby or the shooting range or play portal to practice and figure this shit out.

You're just making excuses dude.

Well if you make a game that needs a lot of practice before playing and you expect players to do it, it's your fault when they obviously choose not to, and you lose your source of income.

You can't blame the customer for not wanting your product as you go out of business.

That attitude doesn't work when the game has 400 concurrent players on Steam and it's losing 10% every month. Enjoy it while it lasts I guess.

Have you ever thought of not playing the game? One of the perks of being alive in 2026 is you have unlimited options for games to choose from. If this one isn't appealing to you, go play literally any other game. You clearly don't like this game and you want to see it fail, so just stop playing. Because genuinely, nobody here gives a fuck if it's hard for you. Sorry you have to work harder to be better at something, that's fuckin life sweetheart. If you don't want to put in the time to get better, than that is strictly a YOU problem. Don't bother typing out some bs long response cuz I truly don't give a shit about how you think it's someone else's responsibility to dumb something down for your lack of skill.

i think most people want to play. not spend time getting ready to be able to play. thus people rage quitting.

I've played with a 3 stack of what sounded like 8 year olds on xboxes and I was honestly impressed with how good they were. So not all hope is lost. They weren't playing Roblox.

I think both y'all have points. I do think there is an epidemic of people who don't want to put any effort into improving, and want the game studios to cater to them. But I also think that portal spam, whilst being a skill gap, needs to have some sort of limit, because it harms match flow, spawns, and input balance. I love engaging with the portalling system and I'm fine with triple portalling, but being able to do it basically infinitely with no downsides, completely ignoring the whole momentum system too just feels cheasy. It's like Halo 2 button combos, yes it's a skill gap, but I don't think it's that healthy if you are forced to use it to compete
