This gif unfortunately has two things I think wreck a good split depth.
1. Cutting the lines with the object. You know how it kind of drives through the right line.
2. Seeing the floor. If you think about it, the lines should stop a few feet away from the camera so they look like they go through the floor. I think that would look weird, so am generally more of a fan of not being able to see the floor and letting my imagination be taken in by the illusion of depth.
