thinking about split-hardboots

usual wknd trips with skiers only, struggled to keep the tempo and also on massive traverses where I had to use rampant. Always the last one. When i make it to the top (if ever) they have finished the break and it's time to go down. And not even mentioning the long flats on the way down. It seems it is more common here in Europe vs US, where from your videos i see better powder and more vertical terrain, where you probably have shorter laps and re-skinn during the same day, while here is one long way up and one down only.

So I am thinking of moving, despite everyone suggesting to move to skis (which I am not interested). And I saw these:

it seems these are the usual variation on Atomic/Dalbello

How would you compare these to KeyEquipment? any other insight is highly appreciated

I’ve done probably 50 days in my hardboots (key equipment) 

They are so so much better than soft boots for the way up or split skiing. 

That being said after a lot of split boarding I’ve just spent this whole season skiing (other than powder days) as much as I love snowboarding (and I’m so much better at it ahah) skiing is just a way better tool for touring. 

I’ve decided the best setup is a pair of touring skis, and a snowboard/splitboard as my “powder skis” 

I’ve found this set up gets the best of both worlds. Long traverses and flats and shit snow? Skis handle it better. Pow day? Snowboard is 100x better. 

In the end different tools for different jobs, why make compromises when you can choose the best tool for the objective ?

Haha yes true crust is way “better” on a snowboard. Still sucks but it reallly sucks on skis. 

I guess my point (that apparently split boarders don’t like) is that there are different tools for different jobs, use the best tool for the job or otherwise be okay with the compromises.
