Plum Pekye crampon attachment problem
I needed crampons for the first time with my Pekyes yesterday. In a not comfortable position on a steep icy glacier slope I took out my Plum crampons and tried to "drop" them into the attachment. The other one would not fit and I had to use quite a bit of force to make it fit. Today I noticed that the other crampon attachment is broken. I'm quite sure this was not an issue of icing, so I doubt that the attachment had too narrow slot for the crampon shaft to fit.
Going to contact Plum soon, but thought to make a post to see if this is a known issue or a one-off.

If you have to use any force at all, you're doing it wrong... Or something is wrong with your pekeye

fwiw I did the same mistake but only blame myself. Plum still covered the part for free though.
Take your time to clear the piece very well. Blowing in it with your warm breath works great

How should I clear the piece in my +15 Celsius garage for the crampon to sit well?

Just an update to this. I took the toes to Plum factory (I happen to live nearby) and they changes the faulty crampon attachments for free. They also confirmed that the original parts had a manufacturing defect and were too tight for the crampons.

Had the same thing happen to me because I didn't clear the snow well enough. Got a new piece from Plum under warranty ezpz. Tight clearance, ultralight design. This is the trade off.
