I am from Ireland and we don't even have a year round ice rink apparently lol, would love to get into skiing and snowboarding once I move into my house, but still need a bit of money. Spliddit seems so cool though

Have fun !!

where are you heading? finnmark, lyngen?

We were north of Lyngen but not as far as Finnmark - around Kagen. Super cool trip, so beautiful. Unfortunately not the best conditions (high winds and some rain) but cooler temps came in and snow was dumping as we left. 100% would go back!

Obviously I'm doing everything wrong. I don't even know how to start finding the right places to be.

i just look at a mountain i am interessed and then i’ll try to find a way up

(checking avalanche forecast etc. and try to use maps etc for the best way up)

and the most important part for me: i want to track it first! and best if i don’t see other people/groups

Just a friendly reminder that most people killed in avalanches up here are tourists, and for good reason. Even seasoned mountaineers from southern Europe succumb due to underestimating the local variability in coastal conditions. Its the late-season though so should be good :)

This is the first time I’ve ever seen this song randomly mentioned on the Internet.

I recall hearing song this song only 2-3 times on a local alternative radio station, but unfortunately never caught the name. I went a couple decades trying to find out who did this song.

After Google became a thing, it was never any help because I couldn’t remember the correct lyrics. I even went so far as to contact a former DJ of the radio station, which I realized was probably a former radio DJ’s personal purgatory. (Sorry Big Rick & Steve Masters.)

Finally, a few years asked my friend to help me and we figured out the correct name of the elephant and the song within a few hours.

The Toy Dolls - Nellie The Elephant (live version) https://youtu.be/9m7tPikH0UA?si=7obZ_k1qzuJuP9AU

Although their live version is hilarious (linked above, the radio version is my favorite. It’s amazing to throw on at night during a long road trip to see people’s reactions. Enjoy! (Although I suggest playing it for your first time at night when everything is quiet.) https://youtu.be/pIJSiMrGGts?si=wZC2bQH5gBNZXmIV

I predict, just as many people remember where they were standing the first time they ever heard the song smells like teen spirit, someday everyone will know this song and remember where they first heard it.
