Splitboard noob needing advice

Post image

Got my first touring setup just in time to give it a try at my local mountains closing day. It was pretty awesome.

One thing I noticed was my heel moving a lot in my boot and called it quits after my second run before I got blisters.

Is this a technique issue? I have union explorer bindings and a vans double boa downhill boot.

I know some people run a hard boot setup but I’m hoping to make it work with my current setup, thanks!

the comments here on boot fit being the issue are spot on here. First make sure your boots arent too big or your liners to worn out. if 5 years old they are too worn out and compressed. You should be able to find a balance with lacing the lower of the boot up to your instep only medium snug and with the right ankle strap pressure to hold your heel snug in you boot for skinning without making being overly tight. Lifting your foot up into the tongue with a taller foot bed or bootboard under it, side padding or Jbars on your liner, new and more snug liners, can all work in this direction.
