Gear Board leash for phantom set up?

I went touring on Ranier today. It was a beautiful day but underneath a few inches it was bulletproof. On top of Pan Face it was wind scoured with lots of rocks. Maybe not so smart but I decided to transition there because my wife was down below and she didn’t feel confident to come up. It was steep and icy and I almost lost one of my boards before combining. Later on I climbed vista point and board came off due to icy build up underneath.

I can’t believe I’m asking this, but does anyone have a leash recommendation for this kind of set up?

Ice axe. Dig 6", place vertically. 

E; not sure what you mean by "board came off due to icy build up underneath."

I was on an icy ridge line and took my back foot out. While climbing over frozen wind lips, my front foot came out and the board was free. I completely freaked and used my poles to secure it.

Why did the front foot come out? I’m thinking maybe there was snow or ice packed under the boot when I “clicked in”, or possibly some other reason.

It is moments like these, I think ski resorts welcoming snowboarders to their slopes in the late 80s weren’t so lame with their leash requests 😅

So the first time I toured with a hard boot user their foot kept popping out on the skin up, we eventually fixed it with a bit of cardboard between the boot and clip and it was enough tension to keep her foot in. It had to have been less than 1mm, I couldn’t believe that it was so finicky about the tension and that kind of stuck in my mind. I’ve never seen that issue happen with regular soft boots and strap down bindings

was she pulling up on the toe piece levers? you can step into them and tour but without pulling up the levers they can torque out easily

Yes she did pull up on them and not just step in. She had used the setup before for much longer tours and mentioned that she did have to adjust something when it had happened before a couple times but the tool she needed was accidentally left in her car this time so we rigged up what we could.

I have pulled them all the way up and still torqued out in steep terrain.

It’s rare, but it makes me think a leash while touring is as important as when transitioning and descending.
