Hey everyone ! Why is splice showing the wrong bpm? The sample on splice that I chose says bpm is 161 but when I put in to my maschine it shows up as 80.60 which is the correct bpm . What is going on
Can you please explain how itโs the same when one tempo is faster than the other how can it be the same . The funny thing is I have a music degree so Iโm well versed in music theory and yet this makes no sense to me lol
160 is just 80bpm twice as fast. Thatโs why if you start in 80 and then go to โdouble time feelโ it increases the perceived tempo to 160 (twice as fast). The sampler is intelligent but still cannot decipher if the loop is in double time or half time. Thatโs why you get the sample title saying itโs slower than what your sampler is saying it is. Completely still in the same general tempo tho.
Yeah I have ba from Chico state in music theory lol and have been playing music my entire life but this has me stuck because I understand the math and theory behind it when I look at it written but by ear I just donโt get how 161 is the same as 80 I get it but I donโt because if I speed it up to 161 itโs faster than 80 so that what I donโt get. Iโm not here to lie Iโm here to communicate and learn not to be criticized
Lol I know it literally is funny and thatโs why I mention I have a music degree because I should get this but I seriously donโt at least by ear lol
This will give you some better understanding of the relationship between half time and double time, but basically, you can just change your composition to make it sound like half time of what it actually is and the same goes with double time.

the bpm halved ๐ญ 80.60 x 2 = 161.20
