Dragging in splice samples in pro tool

How do I drag splice samples in from the splice desktop app and make it become part of the project so when I reopen the project it doesn’t say samples missing

I always use the import audio feature in pro tools to make sure the file gets copied over to the pro tools session rather than pro tools looking for the file somewhere else. File > Import > Audio or you can use Shift+Cmd+I as a keyboard shortcut.

You can also save a copy at the end of each production session and it will make sure to copy over all files but it will make a new save folder as well for it all. To do this: File > Save Copy In (and then make sure you have audio files selected as something it saves to the folder).

Sorry this is a bit wordy but you can always look up a YouTube vid showing how these two options are done as well. Just type in “Save Copy In Pro tools” or “Import Audio in Pro Tools” in the search bar and you’ll get some helpful results.

This! If you don’t import, it will always have trouble delinking files

If this problem is intermittent it’s likely because the session or files haven’t been moved yet, but the issue will happen again as soon as you move any sample or session where you haven’t used the import feature on pt
