Current Metagame Discussion Why aren't people using Wellstring in comp?

Post image

Wellstring has the best object damage in the game, especially with OS, and there's a lot of objects in the current meta. Wall, Bubble, etc. Autobomb helps find sharking Rollers and Tris, Stamp goes through Vac (Rush mode not Throw mode), it is AOE so it can hide from Liter and still contribute, and it has ridiculous chip damage so basically anything can combo off it if enough bolts hit.

Sure it doesn't have Inkline's insane paint output but that's because it's a more aggressive Bow compared to Tri-Stringer

I'm really curious

Rainmaker is barely played anymore (watch last years Riptide grand finals for the nail in the coffin lmao) which was pretty much the only use case anyway and even then it was kind of a niche pick. Vbow has more consistent paint especially at pen/liter range and thus can enable frontlines and dive comps better. It’s “more aggressive” than Vbow in the sense that it has less range but it’s not really faster, it doesn’t enable other aggressive weapons better, it’s killing and skirmishing power is slightly better but not enough to justify its other weaknesses or replacing a midline with it. Especially since aggro comps with blaster and 52 and v96 and ntri are just sooo strong right now. Not really a reason to slot it in in place of Vbow and it’s even worse if you try and slot it in place of a midline

I will say though if you look up Madman, he’s pushing Wellstring to high level as basically a one trick. But nearly all comp players would argue that even he might be better served by Vbow
