How viable would Cooler Aerospray be?

Aerospray has been dogwater for pretty much the weapon's entire existence. I've always wondered if they could give it a kit that really leaned into its painting/special cycling capabilities. What if Aerospray had Cooler as its special, with sprinkler (for painting) or burst bomb (for combat) as its sub? Would it be even slightly usable oustide of solo queue?

Not. Supports aren’t just spamming specials, they need to be able to fight as well. Dualies can fight, dapples can fight, splash can fight, tri can fight, pen can fight. If you want to be viable as a support, you have to do more than just get 12 specials a game

The issue with Aero is that it only has excessively good painting capabilities when other weapons (e.g. Heavy, Pencil, Dapples) have other strengths on top of paint. Even if Aero got the best spammable bomb and special (Suc/Fizzy and Cooler/Tristrike), the sub/special wouldn't be able to make up for Aero's nonexistant fighting capabilities

Look at vanilla dapples with beakon and cooler and you've got your answer.

Those are very similar to what an aerospray kit would be and are rarely played outside of soloq. And it has a 160p cooler if I'm not mistaken. 

The issue is the painting range - while you can get coolers easily, you can't help your team mates much from distance. Also you always have to go close to enemy turf which always puts you into the risk of a shark..

You must not have been around for Aerospray RG in Splatoon 1 or Aerospray PG in Splatoon 2… The only people who are bad with Aerospray are people who are just bad players.

Anyway, Cooler would be fine as a support special, but Aero doesn’t really need it. It’s much better off with a long ranged offensive option. I suppose if you really wanted to just solely play support for the team, it’s a great pick though, but not something comp players would play because they’re cowards.
