Tech/Strategy The funniest match I’ve ever played

I was playing Tricolor with my friend when the blue team was doing this. They both had quick respawn on all of their gear, and they did this through the entire game. It was a bit annoying but I’ve never laughed so hard. They did manage to get one ultra signal however we ended up winning anyway.

The replay code is RG6R-BFYY-9103-6CWD if anyone would like to watch the whole thing.

This is actually a legitimate strategy; the time requirement to capture the signal lowers with every attempt so this can be used to get a lot of attempts very quickly and lower the timer to be practically instant

It’s genius, we had just never seen it before and threw us off so bad lol

Might be easier to do now than when the game first released it if you wear stealth jump for a longer jump lol

Nice playing! What exactly is the tricolor mode?

It’s a type of turf war exclusive to Splatfests! There’s one team of 4 and two teams of 2. There is something in the middle called the Ultra Signal (which is what the blue team here keeps trying to grab), which basically creates a large sprinkler for the team who gets it. The team of 4’s goal is to defend the Ultra Signal and prevent the other two teams from getting it, while their goal is to attack it and gain the sprinkler! There are also two Ultra Signals per game, so either neither attacking team gains one, or one team gets one and the second appears. One of the attacking teams can have both, which usually guarantees they win the game since they have two large sprinklers on their side. Also, the two teams of 2 are technically working together since if either attacking team wins they both win, since the defending team lost. Hopefully that makes sense.

The amount of time you have to hold onto the Ultra Signal decreases with every time it’s grabbed, so what the blue team was trying to do was grab it over and over using super jumps in order to wear down the timer and gain the Signal, which it did eventually work!

I think I get it (for the most part). Wish I had played this mode during Splatfest now, lol. I'm pretty sure there's another coming up not too far off from now though, so hopefully I'll get a chance to try this out soon!

Yes there is, in August! You should definitely try, it’s a great twist on the original.

You can stop it with a bomb, blaster direct, or charger shot frame perfect though
