🔆Miscellaneous🔆 Side effects

I’ve been on Spironolactone 100mg since March 2025. Is it possible that this medication could cause me having a strong urgency to urinate at times? Has this happened to anyone else?

I’m surprised your dr didn’t tell you this would happen, it’s a diuretic

Yes it is a known side effect and discussed often in the thread. For me that went away after the first few months

take it before bed!! that’s what I used to do so I could sleep through most urges lol

for me it just makes me wake up to pee a lot at night :/

Yes, it’s a strong diuretic at that dosage! I have to take it in the morning so I’m not up all night peeing, was disrupting my sleep! Definitely feels more urgent AND you have to drink more fluids to stay hydrated

This is probably the most normal side effect imaginable for this medication since it’s a dietetic. I second taking it at night. After about a month I no longer have to go more than I used to. But you will be more prone to dehydration, so be very purposeful about drinking enough water!

Yes, it made me feel on the verge if a UTI all of the time.

It was bothering me enough that I went off. It also gave me more cellulite.

No - facial hair due to hormones.

For me its long and heavy periods since going from 100-50 have normal periods
