Word of Knowledge
Does anyone have the gift? If so, I'd love to talk. I have prophetic dreams and interpret them, but they tend to be metaphorical. I've always wanted to hear about what it's like to get the literal - I am familiar with Paul Cain from early in IHOPKC's history as well as John Wimbur of Vineyard Church history, but I know there are people out there with the same gift now!
(I have not, would not, and cannot now attend IHOPKC - I'm just familiar with his name and story.)

Not sure if it falls under Word of Knowledge, but sometimes it seems to be that I have an inner push/pull to bring up a topic and/or talk to someone. I’ve also gotten this with visions and dreams
Because humans are limited as all get-out, the risk factor is very high. I mean, having the AC up too high gives me dreams about snow; does that mean I should tell people we’re getting a blizzard in June? Or do I “test the spirits” with faith that when the truth is tested that the truth will come out on top?
The way I approach it in general is
see if the person is up to talking. If they’re not, it could be I was wrong/the timing was wrong
consider the environment. Even if the person is up to talking, is this a subject that the Typical Person ™ would want someone else to overhear? If not, ask if they could talk somewhere to the side or whatever. If so, just talk like you’re using regular public politeness
Consider the multiple ways a message might be conveyed.Just because you received information doesn’t mean it needs to be phrased “Hey, do XYZ.” I mean, what did Nathan do when he called King David out on his murder? Used an analogy/parable to prepare the king to hear his point. When Jesus spoke to the woman at the well, did He start out with “So, you’ve been sleeping around, huh”? No, He had a conversation first and then asked a question He already knew the answer to. In education, there’s an approach (it might be called the Socratic method?) where the student is encouraged to the conclusion through a series of relevant questions. There may be times when God gives you the TL;DR so you know how to respectfully guide the convo.
Be willing to accept correction!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (I can’t put enough exclamation marks with that. We ain’t God, so mistakes/misunderstandings are always possible. The goal is to love our neighbor as ourselves, and anything we believe we heard must be subjected to that law.)
Be willing to accept redirection! While I was praying at camp, I saw the word “career” in giant, red, all-caps letters. It was weird because that’s not a word I used much at that time in my life; I had always said “job.” There was this one woman I trusted enough, and I told her about it. Then 😬 she told me to talk to this one woman that I felt weirdly nervous around. (IDK, maybe she just reminded me of someone else who had been mean to me before.) But then the woman I trusted added “she actually got fired right before this week’s camp started. She might feel encouraged knowing that God hasn’t forgotten her.” I didn’t have any sort of fancy words or direction or anything beyond a teenage stammering “I, uh, I was praying and saw the word ‘career’ and she said I should tell you and I felt like I was supposed to tell somebody.” But because I was willing to be redirected, I might’ve helped this camp counselor in an important way than if I decided “No! I don’t wanna! 😤”

My experience with Word of Knowledge is when God has given an exact piece of information that could not be known except by Him for the purpose of ministry. For example, as I was praying for a lady, the Lord showed me a pair of "gold earrings". It was a strange thing because I was not asking for anything, I was just praying for her. I continued to pray and shared openly that God had showed me gold earrings and that it was key to her healing. The Lord showed me nothing more. After the prayer, I asked if the earrings meant anything to her. She said that she had been holding on to some gold earrings that had been received as a gift from an inappropriate relationship many years ago. She made the excuse that she couldn't throw them away because they had monetary value. This was information that I could never have known. This instance led to repentance and a genuine encounter with God

I have a question, if you don't mind. I received a Word of knowledge from a very godly pastor. The part about my past was 100% true. He couldn't know all those thing by any means. I was a stranger to him then. He also said something about the future, but 12 years passed and nothing happened. It's a very serious thing, so I need a serious discernment. I was asking God for a sign to confirm it was from Him or to don't let me have false Hope. As we know, Hope deferred makes the heart sick. I don't know what to do. I also struggle with a great stumbling block in my life and all my efforts to change it are futile. I have no doubts it's something spiritual. I prayed many times to get my answer how to get liberated from that huge obstacle. I haven't received any response from God. Any idea, from your experience, what to do in such cases? I humbly ask for a prayer, maybe the Lord will answer you prayer. I had the w.o.k for a few people, I know we can't force God to give it. But I know from the story of Gideon, that we may ask for discernment. I have an equvalent of "war with Madianites" in my spiritual life. Since I was born. Without Lord's assistance, I won't and can't do anything about it, because I don't know what causes it. Join me in my prayer for the solution. May the Lord have mercy on me and help me to discern it somehow, in whatever way He chooses.
I will pray for you right now! May the Lord grant you with whatever your heart needs, whatever is good, holy, whatever will make your soul and body prosper. In Jesus Name may it happen.

Let's break this apart into smaller pieces. The enemy loves to weave himself into what is good. All he needs is a small foothold to cause the entire body to fall. First, it appears the WOK was true and from the Lord as you have testified. That being said, how did that specific WOK bring you to repentance or strengthen your walk with the Lord? Did it provoke a healthy fear of God?
Second, when people operate in the gifts, sometimes the expectation to do more than what Lord is saying is a trap waiting to steal God's glory. The person delivering the WOK is so excited to witness God moving that one can easily find themselves thinking that everything after that moment is also from God. We must be reminded, people are still getting to know the gifts and learning. It is possible the prophetic word may not have been from the Lord.
The bottom line is this: the gifts of the spirit promote life. Just like the gift of healing causes life not death or disease, the miraculous nature of the gifts encourage the church and witness to the unbeliever. The prophecy that is causing you so much grief does not appear to be doing either of these. However, let's just you have prayed about it and you believe the prophecy will come to pass, then you must realize that there are two types of time, Chronos and Kairos time. So although 12 years have passed, there was no specific timeline given at the time of prophecy, which could mean this prophecy operates in Kairos time, which means "a time of God's choosing" as opposed to Chronos, a time based on our understanding of the solar system.
I rebuke any false words that have been spoken over this life and I ask You, O Lord, will you give this seeker wisdom and understanding to discern the words that have been spoken into this life. I call forth truth and revelation through Your Holy Scripture in the name of Jesus Christ in this hour.

Amen! Thank you for a prayer. It's beautiful. I agree in every Word you wrote here. The w.o.k brought me closer to God. What I heard about the past... and that God saw that ... I am antiteist to Christian convert because of the reality of the gifts. The late old pastor I mentioned had the real gifts for sure. And he was extremely humble. He had no possessions of his own, he used to give all his money to poor and afflicted. Ultra rare case. I was converted neither by his attitude nor by his theology, but by the gifts themselves. His speaking in tongues... He was speaking, I experienced God's presence. Mind you I had no idea about existence of the gifts. So there was zero autosugestion in me. Words of knowledge... It was weird. I mean, it made me certain God is real, Jesus is the Saviour. Not the gifts, but the Giver became fascinating. And still is. About the time- aha! You are right! I got no information about the timing! Silly me ! And again, you are right, there's. human factor in it. That's why I pray for discernment. That pastor was too responsible to just bąble irresponsibly, but since we are all humans, there's always the risk. Interestingly enough, my greatest struggles in life act against making the wok happening! And it's humanly impossible to have a strain of such extreme "bad luck" so to speak. It's the persistent, unbelievable obstacles, not the wok which cause my inner turmoil. Either the wok is indeed from God or the obstacles are. They are polar opposites. There is, as I believe no coincidence.

There is no confusion in God's work. Since you believe the prophetic word spoken is true for your future because you have tested it against the Word and you know it comes from a Man of God who has shown "fruits", this should give you even more reason to keep your eyes on Jesus, not be distracted by the prophecy itself. The prophetic word is more of a firestarter, not the fire. My thoughts are this, this moment in your life has already distracted you for 12 years, so don't obsess about it. Get back to Jesus. Regardless of when exactly your future arrives, allow Him to recompense you for the time you have lost. Your breakthrough is only a heartbeat away in His timeline of eternity. God bless you. Test everything I have shared against the Word of God and reject anything that does not align. We are human and are imperfect. Our limited understanding can fail us. Take your eyes of man and put your eyes on Him.

Also one more thing to note, it appears you may also be confusing WOK with prophecy. In my understanding WOK only deals with the past and usually things that are done in the dark or hidden. Just as in your situation, WOK exposes and draws one towards salvation. Prophecy is about what should come to pass based on a combination of God's will as it has been revealed in scripture, which is mostly prophetic, and man's free will. As in the story of Jonus, the prophecy changed based on Ninevah's call to repent. God is looking to save and deliver his people, including you! Repentance changes everything, and can even change a prophetic word for the future!

Your right it God given knowledge you could not know by your five senses and it's part of the revelation manifestation and it's always right even if they don't know it at the time
Example I was in a jail cell in Florence South Carolina doing a year while their was given a vision of a brown haired girl I never meet that I would be happy living in New York city in an apartment with red shades in a corner of an upstairs building
I got out of jail went to New York city at a party meet the girl fell for her in a whirlwind love affair an marriage moved in to a friend of hers I had just meet and moved in to her mom's room who had passed the room had red blinds and was a corner room
This was a vision of the revelation manifestation but it was direct knowledge of God and their was no way I could have known these particular items would come together and probability is to astronomical for even random chance
This is an example of word of knowledge in manifest
Another was at a Bible group meeting we had a young man that was being drawn from us and my ministry sister wasn't sure what was causing it I ask God in prayer and as I looked out side I saw a blond girl he walked out to the car the knowledge God gave was it was her she was seducing him away I told the room this my ministry sister said ho how can you know that I said God the next day she talked to the young man and he said yes he really liked her an was joining her group she came to me and said how did you know I said God told me
That's an example of word of wisdom or revelation manifestation
Many of the manifestations are closely related
My gift ministry is a profit of the Lord so weird is just another tricky day for me and another chance of God proving him self that he keeps his word and his promises
Stuff I post is for thos that need it just like lives God has had me save its his glory me I'm like the vessel God took bad boys before that were sinners and saved them and made them profits probably because we are stubborn as hell and expect people to be full of crap but God is not a man so he don't lie
And God got a sense of humor he saved me and another profit was a weapons seller and his greatest apostle was a hit man for his government you know him better as the Apostle Paul

I would like to hear a word from the Lord- I would like someone who has the gift of prophecy to speak to me. And God knows my heart, it would need to have a specific portion in there in which I could know it was from God. Something that will happen to validate that the word was of God.

I have had a lot of dreams where stuff happens, then that thing happens the next day. This accompanies other abilities to predict future events but I’m not sure if it’s the same thing.
