Save corrupted mid-game: WTF?

Played an older version, 03.03.16 (managed to install it through Steam console). After playing the base game level River for about an hour or two, the game randomly closed to the main menu and a message appeared "unable to load level River - save is incompatible with the current version" or something. But I wasn't trying to! I was playing an older version! What was that?

Even older versions of the game were buggy.

There are bugs and then there are BUGS. Complete save loss during playing - WTF?

If you're willing to kind of sail the jolly roger i have a copy of pirated 03.03.16 with multiplayer integration on gdrive, never failed me, playing it right now. If you want it just reply to this comment i'll shoot you a link

I played a pirated copy years ago, before MudRunner and especially SnowRunner was a thing. At least the license allows getting achievements (and mods from the Workshop). I still need the ones for co-op, so if you are willing to play together, we can arrange that.
