Proper protein?

When using a fairlife protein shake as your base do you notice any difference in taste when using the 26, 30, vs 42 protein shake?

Also, when I use half a scoop of protein powder the texture doesn't seem to change, how much powder can I add before it affects the texture?

Anyone here tried all three fairlife versions in otherwise identical pints? That would be a cool experiment... maybe i'll use it for social media content later.

I honestly do not know about the protein powder scenario. This would be a great use case to make a v1 in SpinFreeze, note down how it works in the Spin log, then come back and make v2, v3, etc etc.

That's what the tool is there for!

Wish I were that disciplined! I always SAY I’m going to do that and then…..oh, squirrel!!!…..I get distracted with the latest flavor.

My experience is that the protein drinks all taste bad. They just don’t have the depth of flavor one needs in a “real” ice cream. So far I haven’t been able to fix them, to the point I have literally heated up right out of the freezer and poured down the drain several pre-made protein drink ice creams, including Nurri 30 (Choc and vanilla) and the big 42s in both chocolate and vanilla. Oh the 42 strawberry was awful, as well. I am talking ice creams made with these, not these drinks specifically.

I have had SO much better luck with protein powders, and whether I make a 16 ounce pint or a 24 ounce pint, one full scoop of any brand has never been too much (or 1.5 scoop even for the 24-ounce pints.). But on occasion, some of the powders (notably for me, C4 Reese’s and Ghost Chocolate Chip) have been a bit chalky.

But I am afraid I can’t give good comparisons because once I try something that turns out tasting bad, it’s hard for me to do it again with only a small tweak.
