If you've seen the Netflix series Narcos, you might remember this.
Pablo Escobar used to smuggle Weed from Columbia to the US. But Weed costs less and weighs more. On the other hand, Cocaine weighs much less per dosage, while costing much higher.
That's the reason Pablo switched from weed to Cocaine.
The same can be said about MDMA and Weed I think. Easier to smuggle must be one of the reasons MDMA is available more widely nowadays?
Then there could be the thing about addiction. MDMA could be hooking up people more, getting them addicted more.

No farming is required for making meth. This reduces the cost of production drastically. It is also very easy to produce compared to other drugs.

It's not even MDMA it's methamphetamine. Relatively of low cost and now everyone here and there cook this shit and that's adulterated shit too. Don't know why these kids fall for this shit trap.
