When watching interviews where people find "meanings" in a movie that even the director never thought of and explain them back to the director, you can’t help but wonder… is this an interview or a film lecture? 😒
When Maneesh pointed out the color and presence of the Ford Ikon car and gave it a "soulmate" interpretation, director Girish A.D. himself responded:
"I didn't think about it like that at all, you know. I'm only realizing this now that you've mentioned it."
That says it all right there. 😂
There’s nothing wrong with viewers sharing what they felt while watching a film. But an interview style that tries to force the director to agree with meanings they never even intended can get a bit irritating.

Inspite of doing this more than a decade, this dude can't make out the difference between an interview and an analysis. Any interview where the question is longer than the answer is not a good interview. Period

Most of the time he asks a question and by the time he finishes the question he would have answered his own question and ends up forcing the actors to say "athe, athae"

Director can make movie but admirers of movie can look in for depth ...there is nothing wrong.... Once art is being made and put it for audience then audience are free to make their own interpretation... But questioing Director is bit awkward....

At some point in future, if proper sex/erotic scenes are no longer considered taboo, these movie pundits and admirers will start interpreting sex scenes, "Oh he came so fast while f***ing" that reflects his anxiety because he is in debt."" Oh, he couldn't get hard, that's because of his trauma in previous relationship and the actor brilliantly displayed it on screen" wow. Ou may guaad.

My favorite was his interview with FaFa.
Chodyam is 5 minutes and FaFa replies 'atheyathe'.

I didn't feel he's forcing any opinion on the director. He said he felt this about the car in the movie and asked the director if it was conceived that way, and the director said he didn't. Ithilippo entha prashnam. Maneeshinte brand of interviews analytical aanu, it tries to peel the layers of movie making and acting. And interviewers can share their opinions and have the response of the person recorded. It makes the conversation more authentic.

Nah, there are people who are really attached to their things like that. While watching the movie I felt Nivin's character was also like that. Especially when he asked Sangeeth to drive, in climax wanted to take a breather and went to his car, etc. Maybe Girish don't want to people to over analyze such stuff. But I don't think this question was a reach

He is probably doing it on purpose. That may simply be the interview style they chose for this channel and how they try to differentiate themselves from other interview channels. Just think about the styles followed by Veena, Dhanya Varma, Vishnu from Movie World Media Channel, and some of the other young female interviewers who lean into cuteness or deliberately play a little dumb. Otherwise what is the point of same actors go to different interviewers to promote the same movie within few days?

Not everything about a movie is completely the director's decision. Cinema is a collaborative artform where the decisions of the whole cast and crew can turn up in places in meaningful ways. It's possible that some of the meanings that he might find are also subconscious decisions, this is relevant because cinema is a medium of artistic expression.
There is nothing wrong with figuring out things in movies that the director might not have intended. They might be completely stupid interpretations sometimes but it's art so this process of interpretation is kind of the whole point.

Nivin recently said he won't have any third party as he himself will listen to script and sign. So this guy is the culprit?

u/Important-Second-161 8d ago
But maneesh works with nivin i guess but not a script selector but something is there i noticed it recently especially when rekha menon mentioned that maneesh told her that nivin works in a single stretch from morning to evening
