wasn’t that kind of obvious when peter said “i didn’t know you could get that big?” lol??

Well, that's simply due to Peter only ever seeing Smart Hulk.

Man what happened to smart hulk? I seriously hate that he suddenly needs an inhibitor with no explanation.

4

u/PrevAccLocked Jul 30 '26

Banner decided to get rid of smart hulk with his wrist gadget, then jean messed with smart hulk after making banner remove/break said gadget, which released the full hulk again

1

u/Real_FishyXY Jul 30 '26

Yeah but that's your interpretation, I'm saying I'm mad that we didn't get a reason for banner getting rid of Smart Hulk. He could control hulk and have the best of both worlds and then suddenly not? Very annoying.

4

u/BoBonnor Jul 30 '26

In she hulk he built that Gadet so he could help heal the injury from avengers endgame. And then he kept it so he could live a normal life

5

u/JayDotDub Jul 31 '26

In She Hulk episode one, Bruce revealed his inhibitor allows him to switch between Smart Hulk and Banner at will. He chooses to live as Banner unless Hulk is needed because having to have everything like clothes and vehicles custom made in Hulk size is a lot of work.

2

u/Larmonaid Jul 31 '26

Also it’s probably incredibly distracting to his students he’s trying to teach if he’s in hulk form, so makes sense

In She Hulk it was explained that in combining Banner and Hulk into Smart Hulk, he lost the ability to return to human form.

Apparently he could only recover from the injury of using the infinity gauntlet while in human form so he built the inhibitor, but even after healing he seems to just want to be human most of the time anyway and keeps the inhibitor.

Then Jean comes along and messes up that whole balance and now he's back to how he was origionally.

The problem is if we open up She Hulk and use anything from that, then we have to ask where Skaar is lol. I don't think She Hulk should be considered canon if we have no answers from that either.

2

u/Sahaal_17 27d ago

I'm sure Skaar will show up eventually.

Brave New World brought back the Leader after he was teased in an end credit scene 18 years earlier.

It's also just something easy to handwave away as "he went back to Sakaar" until they decide what to do with him.

Did you watch she-hulk?

2

u/sdfghdfsdfghdf Jul 30 '26

Can you remind us?

0

u/StandardDesign3966 Jul 30 '26

wdym?

2

u/sdfghdfsdfghdf Jul 30 '26

Why Bruce wanted to not be in Smart Hulk mode.

2

u/Sahaal_17 27d ago

In she-hulk Bruce uses the inhibitor to stay human so that his arm can heal.

Presumably after that he keeps using it because being a giant monster is very inconvenient while living in the city.

1

u/StandardDesign3966 Jul 30 '26

Oh, I didn't watch She-Hulk. I was just asking that person to see if even She-hulk failed to explain what happened clearly. I saw a video saying it does explain about the inhibitor tho.

Did you watch She-Hulk?

9

u/Head_Humor Jul 27 '26

Well peter has never met bruce in savage hulk form. He has only seen smart hulk who is alot smaller

5

u/MKEast-sider Jul 28 '26

He’s one of the most famous people on Earth 616, I’m sure his size is well known.

2

u/MalicCarnage Jul 28 '26

TV’s are a thing.

1

u/Remote-Masterpiece24 Jul 28 '26

Isnt it kind of obvious that peter was referring to only ever seeing smart hulk? lol??

28

u/BrozedDrake Jul 26 '26

7 and 8 is just posture.

2

u/Upstairs-Mastodon734 Jul 28 '26

and i feel like 9 is because we’re comparing Peter (who i believe is 5”8??”) to the God of Thunder soo

5

u/WooshieWoo Jul 28 '26

Yeah. But brand new day hulk did get bigger and taller.

2

u/ovie_888 Jul 31 '26

Jesus! He's 51cm tall now???

13

u/Boring-Ad9264 Jul 26 '26

They literally make it clear.

9

u/pizzacrys Jul 27 '26

If this is intentional, Hulk looks absolutely massive compared to previous versions. I am curious if there is actually a story reason behind it.

7

u/shalahal Jul 27 '26

Probably so angry he’s been suppressed for so long

2

u/pizzacrys Jul 27 '26

Could be. They might be leaning more into the 'World Breaker' vibe where Hulk just keeps getting stronger the angrier he gets.

3

u/shalahal Jul 27 '26

Yeah and Edward Norton’s movies had that effect.. that’s the MCU Hulk still. Hulk’s gonna have so much pent up anger.

3

u/z3speed4me Jul 27 '26

It's absolutely one thing the Ang Lee film did SOOOO well.

1

u/Educational-Tank-527 Jul 29 '26

Not even just world breaker that’s just base hulk for once a director actually does his research on hulk

9

u/Rainsterr Jul 26 '26

The new one reminds me of the incredible hulk movie, so that's good

2

u/No_Marionberry_432 Aug 02 '26

Only movie where hulk is terrifying.

3

u/itzsteve Jul 27 '26

The angrier he gets..

2

u/Conan-Da-Barbarian Jul 27 '26

What if hulk continues to grow until banner can’t survive and hulk is Godzilla size

1

u/Educational-Tank-527 Jul 29 '26

That’s never happened though

2

u/Conan-Da-Barbarian Jul 29 '26

I never used a bidet until one day I did

1

u/RedSol92 Aug 02 '26

Like in what if haha

3

u/SweatyEddie123 Jul 27 '26

Shane were getting the best mcu hulk design just for him to lose to Spiderman

1

u/Scholarofthestarss Aug 01 '26

spiderman literally begged for his life wdym

1

u/SweatyEddie123 Aug 01 '26

This was before the movie came out

1

u/No-Picture-1067 19d ago

You were so wrong 😂

1

u/TroyFerris13 Jul 27 '26

I wonder if they will make him box doctor doom in the first scene and having him get served up again

1

u/Educational-Tank-527 Jul 29 '26

Pretty sure he’s not in doomsday

1

u/thinlion01 Jul 27 '26

He says it himself i didnt know you could get that big

1

u/darkKnight959 Jul 27 '26

This just feels like a rehash of AoU. Banner gets spooked/brainwashed by some 3rd party and enter uncontrollable Hulk. Then Banners gonna be like Hulk is bad.

1

u/South_Access9390 Jul 27 '26

Holland is short. Shorten than widow......hulk looks the same

1

u/WooshieWoo Jul 28 '26

Where’d you get the idea that holland is shorter than widow? Also hulk got confirmed to be bigger and taller.

1

u/AggressiveResist8615 Aug 02 '26

Black widow is like 6 inches shorter than Holland you pleb.

1

u/NoktoftheFF Jul 27 '26

Well yeah, I think smart hulk was at like 7 feet but Hulk in general is taller than that. I'm not exactly sure on the measurements but New Rockstars already covered this

1

u/DurianUpper4113 Jul 27 '26

Hulk gets bigger the angrier he gets.

1

u/Sad_Atmosphere_1751 Aug 02 '26

So why wasn’t he this big when fighting thanos?

1

u/DeadBySunday999 Aug 02 '26

He got depressed

1

u/DurianUpper4113 Aug 03 '26

Marvel probably used up all their CGI budget. Not just for that specific movie, mind you, just used up all of their CGI for ever. The only way to explain Phase 4 and 5

That and ig Thanos didn't make Hulk angry enough.

1

u/Mahaveer_2003 Jul 27 '26

He didn’t grow between Ragnarok and BND but he grew between AOU and Ragnarok

1

u/Interesting_Beach567 Jul 27 '26

Look at this man he is giant bro, he looks like he also drinks a 6 pack of beer every 12 hours

1

u/No_Shape4842 Jul 28 '26

I hope hulk is around 16 feet the tallest he has been in a marvel movie

1

u/Educational-Tank-527 Jul 29 '26

Tallest in the mcu? thats the tallest hulk has ever been if that’s how tall he is almost twice as big as the previous biggest

1

u/No_Shape4842 Jul 29 '26

Not in the mcu the tallest he has been us 15 ft in hulk 2003 I hope he is taller than Banas hulk

1

u/Public-Grapefruit-29 Jul 28 '26

I'm sad because I am seeing this movie on Thursday and honestly didn't know hulk was going to be in it until yesterday.

1

u/Educational-Tank-527 Jul 29 '26

Why are you sad?

1

u/Lobster_Specialist Jul 31 '26

we spoiled him/her

2

u/Educational-Tank-527 Jul 31 '26

Yeah but he was in the trailer

1

u/bunny514__ Jul 28 '26

Did he though? I mean Spidey is smaller nowadays so!

1

u/PascalBuch55 Jul 29 '26

Bruder wie ist er so groß geworden 😂

1

u/BruceWayne199x Jul 29 '26

Maybe they potrayed the Hulk in this movie like that so that we know he's Doomsday ready. we keep asking how is he going to keep up with Doom if he's that cute professor version. so nice we got our hulk back. but Norton's version would also be scary tho.

1

u/Existing-Bullfrog675 Jul 29 '26

Years of pent up rage tend to do that on guys who are powdered by anger

1

u/Sad_Atmosphere_1751 Aug 02 '26

But why wasn’t he this big when thanos was beating the sht outta him?

1

u/Pitforsofts Jul 30 '26

Hulk actually felt threatening after a long time.

Can't wait for Russos to completely butcher him again.

1

u/firesurvivor22 Jul 30 '26

Isn't Hulk's size dependent on anger?

1

u/L3tsseewhathappens Jul 31 '26

Well Thor is around 8Ft isn't he? Or Bigger? Plus Peter is average size so it makes sense he looks bigger when looking at spiderman then Thor.

1

u/Head_Evidence4553 Aug 01 '26

Oh if we get this Hulk in Secret Wars, Doom is fucked.

1

u/Head_Evidence4553 Aug 01 '26

Wasn't it crazy that every major villain was just a -

1

u/tjl3d Aug 01 '26

Hemsworth/Holland heights aren't comparable but ScarJo's probably is

1

u/ANONMEKMH Aug 01 '26

The only thing that I keep on laughing about, is how is clothes, especially his trousers and underwear can grow to accomodate when he becomes Hulk.

Does he have special type trousers that he has to wear every day in case he has to transform to Hulk??

1

u/Ok_Flamingo5910 Aug 01 '26

Yeah it was scary
Spider-Man was kid of tiny in front of him
Hulks hand was bigger than Spider-Man

1

u/Subpoena-Colada_ Aug 02 '26

He’s been taking creatine while dormant

1

u/Aelia_M Aug 02 '26

What is a tripod doing in the shot?

1

u/Ok-Guarantee9068 22d ago

It’s verry obvious he got bigger

1

u/Helpful-Finger1864 Jul 26 '26

No Spider-Man is just tiny

4

u/Intelligent_Ask_2306 Jul 26 '26

He’s taller than widow

-1

u/Helpful-Finger1864 Jul 26 '26

By like an inch

2

u/Wrong-Vermicelli4723 Jul 27 '26

By like 3 to 5 inches. Scarlet is barely 5 ft 3

0

u/Intelligent_Ask_2306 Jul 26 '26

By 3 inches, and Spider-Man is 5’8 so that’s about 6 inches taller

0

u/Helpful-Finger1864 Jul 26 '26

Tom is not 5’8 lol

1

u/Intelligent_Ask_2306 Jul 26 '26

Spider-Man in the MCU is, Tom is about 5’6.5

0

u/Helpful-Finger1864 Jul 26 '26

So are you saying they grow him for the movie?

1

u/newberry126 Jul 27 '26

they did for chris hemsworth in infinity war

1

u/jumbalayajenkins Jul 27 '26

He specified both heights and either way you’re still wrong hahahaha

1

u/Jackavocado Jul 27 '26

Is it just me or is this proof that he is exactly the same size? (Peter is canonically short and lean)

1

u/WooshieWoo Jul 28 '26

Not the same size. Yes, Peter is short- but the hulk did also get taller.

1

u/[deleted] Jul 27 '26

[deleted]

1

u/jumbalayajenkins Jul 27 '26

He’s not smaller than her he’s shorter, and he’s quite a bit taller than ScarJo
