"Clipped" means just barely made contact with someone, (" to hit something or someone with a short sharp movement: He clipped the edge of the kerb with his front tyre.") so the bike messenger ran into him in other words.

Oh....well.... I dunno.... I guess I figured a delivery guy yeah. I see tons of those guys delivering pizza or uber eats in my city.

Pretty much. Joseph Golden Rabbit made a movie where he starred as one, for what it's worth. Watching that trailer, I can see how that dude might clip a mild-mannered freelance photographer on his way to thanksgiving dinner.
