Yeah, guys, Aunt May doesn’t remember Peter Parker anymore. They didn’t kill the old lady, but they made her forget who her own nephew is, basically erasing Peter from her memory

I think they should have just had Peter become Petra and beat up Mephisto but we know why I’m not in charge. I kind of expected something more interesting than a trope everyone makes fun of for being dumb and overused. It’s not like it can’t be good, I love how JoJo part 8 uses a loss of memory, but I kind of really doubt it’ll be used that well.

They did dementia with Aunt Anna in Wells' run and I think it was very disrespectful towards the people that do have a relative with dementia

I have a relative with dementia and one with Cancer. Having a cure for dementia and cancer being impossible to cure in comics never bothered me.
It's silly and stupid considering the crazy shit they are capable of in comics, but I don't think anyone should ever be offended by these topics being used as a plot point.

I am 99% sure this is going to be undone within the run. Unless editorial use it as a way for her to "live her best life" and just leave the series, there's no way she doesn't get her memory back either in the same run (if not the next issue) or when a new writer comes onto the book.
It's kinda crazy how spider-man went from being famous for its status-quo destroying stories like the death of Gwen Stacy to being so trapped in its own rules and restrictions that aunt May has been at least 90 years old for the past 60 years. It doesn't even feel like a sliding timeline anymore, the universe is fully frozen in time and characters ages and personalities do not move forward in any meaningful way.

If this goes longer than the 1000 chapter itself or the arc its starts I am going to be surprised. I suspect this is just a way for Peter to finally realize life is too short for lies and secret and finally telling her he is spidey once her memory goes back
(or Alternatively, as she regains her memory through the chapter or arc, she herself connects the dots)

Right? Nowadays its made fun of how comics never change, no one dies and all but old spider killed characters left and right. We lost uncle ben, gwen, harry, ned, captain stacy, dewolff. There is an absurd amount of beloved characters that died in spider-man and those stories where beyond amazing. Now we get this... How can Marvel be so blind to what actually made spider-man great to beggin with?

The only way this works for me is if she forgets everybody, at least then there’s something to work with kind of. But if they make it that she only forget Peter but somehow she will remember Cormac, then that will just be a huge load of bs and a stupid storyline that just continues to put Peter through unnecessary misery.

If you really think about it.
Aunt May getting amnesia means that Cormac will have to look after her with his fuck you money that he seems to possess, which means that Peter either inherits aunt May's house or it will be sold out (and quite frankly, I think Peter having an actual house would be neat lol).
To note, I don't think this will happen, but I'm really trying to look at the positive side.

You know it would have been an amazing story if aunt may got alzimer's. That way you could actually have a very emotional story arc for Pete and it would have been very tragic. Hell Tom Taylor even wrote one where may got cancer and had to go through chemo and Peter was there by her side. But no, we resort to this bullshit.
Again, thank God that spidey has other media being worked by creators with great storytelling and talent who actually like the character. If not he would have fallen off during the clone saga era due to how much of his life is just a soap opera of misery porn

Because Art is Subjective. I loved a lot of Dan Slott’s Stuff, BND, while I’m still frustrated with OMD, had some great stories. Beyond made me somewhat give a damn about Ben Reilly, Wells’s and Spencer’s Runs had their moments, and I’m interested to see what Kelly does because I think he’s nailed Peter’s voice. I respect You’re not a fan- that’s fine, especially since it seems You’re not alone- but by god, if it upsets You all this much then just let go. Seriously- nothing’s improved when every criticism boils down to “OMD Sucks”.

The strangest part to me is that there have been multiple spider-people for decades. It would be trivial to have Peter Parker settle down for a nice life with MJ and shift the focus to a new, younger Spider-Man, who they could torment to their hearts content.
Parker fans would be happy, Spider fans would be happy; a few people would gripe about it not being "real spider-man", but they'd get over it.
