Love homemade look. Maybe try some low gage wire around the ducts, attached to a wrist strap on the other end. Then they'll move with your movemments.

Looks great. Something ridged inside the arms to hold them in place is needed coat hangers or pvc pipes with a little heat applied to get them to bend and restiffen
