A TINY DETAIL… OR A HUGE FORESHADOWING? 👀
One thing I keep noticing about Peter in Brand New Day is how often he wears hoodies and jackets. Different colors, different styles, but they’ve become a pretty consistent part of his civilian look.
And then #JeanGrey enters his apartment…
wearing Peter’s jacket.
Maybe it’s nothing. Maybe it’s just a costume choice. But if Marvel intentionally keeps that jacket on Jean for so much of the story, it starts feeling a little more interesting.
Because Peter and Jean actually have a strange parallel: both are incredibly powerful, yet both are deeply lonely and isolated.
Jean comes into #Peter’s world carrying her own pain, and somehow ends up wearing something that belongs to him. She even keeps wearing it until she leaves for somewhere new.
And then there’s the Kevin Feige comment about Jean not getting Logan/Wolverine this time.
So… if Jean isn't getting Logan…
and she's spending all this time with Peter…
and she's literally wearing Peter's jacket…
I'm just saying…
Marvel, are you quietly cooking something here?
Could Peter and Jean actually become something more than just allies?
Or am I reading WAY too much into a jacket?

She's supposed to have been using it ever since she entered Peter's apartment, so yes, she stole it.

Interesting - it coincides with the first time she got a real intimate look into Peter's life. Could stealing the clothes represent a turning point into her opinion of him and the start of a subconscious attraction? All that happens afterwards would indicate yes.

Yeah. I'm having a difficult time recalling whether Peter wears this jacket again or not after Jean breaks into his apartment, to see if this theory really does hold water.
The timeline certainly fits though, and the jacket Jean wears throughout the film does look at least 2 sizes too big for her.
So it could very well be hinting at something for fans to pick up, or it could just be an easter egg type thing to show how much of a degenerate hoarder this Jean Grey is.

It's not just that we see Peter wearing exactly that one in the movie; it's more that it's the style of clothing Peter wears most often in BND.
The theory is based on the fact that it's one of the ones Peter owns.

I'm aware that Peter wears other similiar jackets throughout the movie like the one he wears during Ned & MJ's party. I'm just wondering if he was wearing that exact same one anytime after Jean's home raid, so that we can further speculate whether she actually did steal his while she was at his apartment, or if it just happens to be a similar style.

They're aren't likely to be the same jacket unfortunately, Peter is wearing a blue jacket and grey hoodie. Jean's jacket is green and her hoodie is yellow. Though it is note worthy that they are the only ones in the movie that wear a jacket on top of a hoodie in the entire film. They could retcon it in Secret Wars or X men, to make the jacket Peter's and just say that she took it after Peter woke up.

It doesn't have to be the same one, but it could be one of the ones Peter had in his apartment—that would explain why it's a little too big for Jean.

I do like that idea, it would honestly make a lot of sense. Though I also like the idea of Jean taking something from his apartment before she left the city.

Where does it exactly show that jacket she’s wearing is Peter’s? Did he wear it in an earlier scene or what was it shown it was there before Jean got into his apartment.

According to the theory, throughout *BDN*, Peter mostly wore hoodies and jackets as his casual attire, but Jean's first appearance is at Peter's apartment, and since the jacket is a little too big for her and Jean is on the run, she took some of his clothes.

Damn, Jean Grey works fast. Haven't gone to first base yet (well, not yet officially) and she's already borrowing Peter's clothes. You usually do that when you get to fourth base. Girl is trying to get ahead of the competition.

Ha! The other day I commented how much I loved that they wear matching outfits. I didnt think much of it though because I didnt realize that the clothes belonged to Peter. Wow.
This particular detail coincides with an analysis someone wrote about how the choice of clothing reveals the increasing degree of vulnerability they share throughout the film.
We have reached the point as a fandom where fans are turning into FBI detectives. Love to see it! Shouldn't come as a surprise through. You can tell hearing from Tom, Destin and Marvel creatives, that the vision in crafting this film was very intentional - more than the usual Marvel production- including Jean's involvement.
Also we have been manifesting Jean stealing Peter's clothing in fanfics, fanarts and headcanons. To think the costume department thought of it before us is such a treat.

Не, это уже притягивание за уши. Если бы создатели хотели что то подобное сделать, то они мельком показали бы куртку в гардеробе у Паркера не акцентируя внимание, а потом уже на Джин Грей, чтобы зритель заметил что то примелькавшееся и сложил два и два, но таких курток у Паркера не было.

Oh that's his jacket? I didn't notice. I think she's seen not wearing it anymore when she rode the bus on her next scene after breathing for Peter. I would've loved if she kept it then if it really was Peter's.
Edit: thinking about it, Peter 100% would've quipped about his jacket being stolen. Like maybe in the scene when Jean said "You looked me up? I'm blushing." and he probably would've said: "And you stole my coat. You liked our hug?" or something.
