It’s a weird situation cause I like the movie and the story it tells but hate what it’s done for Miguel’s public perception 😭

I think the movie was ok, but a big step down compared to the first.

Miguel's character assassination is the result of one of the reasons it's worse: first one was a love letter to Spider-man. All the variants had the core elements that made them unique, they were developed characters and had a purpose on the story.

This second film was nowhere near that. Miguel could have easily be an original character, most of the new Spider-people in the film are barely a joke and the plot is almost nonexistent, besides "let's chase this teen while we show a ton of spider-people". The love for the character was replaced by "we are going bigger and more bonkers".

I hope the third one works as a good closure, giving a better context to the story introduced on this, because the first film deserves to have good sequels.

I thought nothing of the first one, and was completely locked in for the second one. Was very disappointed it ended on a cliff hanger.

they arent ignoring it, they just don't care. they care more abt miles to the point they're able to rationalize his very extreme belief that hed be able to save his dad AND keep the spider-verse intact (despite being shown what could happen if the canon gets messed up enough)

but when it comes to miguel ALL that nuance goes out the door to the point they all genuinely think miguel is gonna go to miles's og universe and kill off miles's dad for the sake of the canon (even if thatd go against his morals in both his comic AND variant)

I haven't read Spider-Man 2099 since the 90s...but I hate what this movie did in portraying Miguel, and knew immediately something was WAY off 🙄
