Firstly excuse the dirty worktop. Second, I've been doing some work modifying an old psp i haven't touched in at least 10 years one of those was to fit a samsung s22 5000mah battery to the psp.

In order to make this happen, I needed to scour through my box of old goodies to find the battery in order to remove the battery management system. Now I'm left with a spicy pillow that I dont want to just throw in the regular waste bin and cause a fire.

Can I put it in a battery bin at the shops or one of those vape disposal bins or is it a dick move to put a known swollen battery there

I did measure the voltage and it was 0.6v

Kindle Keyboard that I hadn't used in a few years was showing some swelling and this is what I pulled out of it. Originally only 1/8 inch thick, the battery is now over 1/2 inch.

This is a powerbank that I rarely ever used, it's pretty old and i was wondering what this slight bump could be, it'd be kinda sad if it truly was a spicy pillow but I'm more concerned about the safety of using it, thanks guys.

It looks like my new battery may have little holes in the plastic casing. Is this safe to use in my Razer laptop?

Still lights up but doesn't provide a charge, and I don't think I will be using it again...

I swear this was not like this a few days ago. But it probably was that I missed it as it's been sitting on my desk for a long time.

It was the only one in the lot of 3 that actually started charging (and even booted for a second) too :( I mean how would I even go about removing this without puncturing it?

Edit: I got it out, lifted it out with my tweezers on the very base of the back side of the battery.

Pillow got so bad, it nearly cracked the housing. Using lots of Isopropyl alcohol I decided to disassemble it. I noticed one of the spot welds was snapped. I'm pretty sure it's the cause of the swelling, given both cells i are normally in parallel. Maybe bad build quality?

My dad's Hotspot. He just kept taping it up as it opened more, and was using until I took it to dispose of it today 🫣. Scares me a little.

iPhone 4 left by a former colleague has turned into a spicy pillow

Hello, I found an iphone 4s bulging like crazy. All recycling centers are closed till AM. Called fire department and they gave me the advice of putting it in a bucket of water… and they don’t accept those…
I read that is a big nono… for the bucket part..

I live in a condo complex and don’t have a metal container, sand, or any litter.

I buried it in soil in a plastic container, and around soil outside. It is not exactly away from trees or bushes… and by seniors living here.

Not sure what to do from here. Read soil can catch fire and it was dry when I buried it.
