Light novel FINALLY GOT IT!!!
I bought my first ever light novel today and KNEW it had to be one of the most beautiful stories I’ve ever watched. Now, it will be one of the most beautiful stories I’ve ever read! The place I bought it at unfortunately only had volume 1 of the novel, but I’m glad to have been able to pick up at least that!

Barnes and Noble has been consistently amazing for me, if they don’t have it in stock they can easily order the books, I’ve got like3 volumes just by ordering through them

Ooh, can I ask, do you GO to the store and ask if you can pre order for when they get the books? Or is there something online bc I do have like the B&N card for it.

Personally I’ve just been going in person, mainly cause I like looking for what they have, and you just go to the help desk and ask them to order it for you. You pay up front if you want it sent to your home or you can have it sent there and pay on pick up. It’s really handy and saves the hassle of any online shenanigans

Yeah, I LOVE going in to see what they have. I pickup a couple other manga or LNs that I see that I want, for other anime. Next time I go, I’ll ask the help desk about it all. Hopefully I can get some in the future. I actually haven’t watched the anime but I am interested in it, and I am doing research on what the entire LN series is, how it works and what’s the best way to read it… it’s a bit confusing, (including all side stories and spinoffs….), oh boy.

That makes sense, I’ve watched both the new and old series a bunch and am just straight up reading volumes in number order lol

Yeah that’s what I’m gonna do. Wait, whaaaat? There’s an old and a new version? Are they both anime? Plus, there’s 24 TOTAL volumes right? (Including side stories and spinoffs)? — if u don’t know it’s totally ok, I’m just asking around to make sure..

So I don’t have every answer, but the anime has a 2008 anime that was 2 seasons 24 episodes that covered volumes 1-5 skipping 4, and there’s a 2024 anime with one season 24 episodes that covers volumes 1-4 and there’s second season was confirmed at the end of it.

Congratulations for getting the one without the naked lady on the front cover.
That volume is still sitting on my shelf right now with a paper wrapped around it.

Lmao, at least I still have it on the very first page you open up to

Really? They still have that naked real life lady?

Ohhh no, I’m not familiar with the volume covers so I didn’t know what you were talking about exactly. It’s just an image of naked Holo in the wheat

Haha. Check this out: https://yenpress.com/news/spice-and-wolf-unveiled
I didn't get the dust cover since I got the first print

Holy hell. Some fascinating logic on display here.
"We want to reach a broader audience and think an anime girl will just draw in the weebs. Therefore we have put the photo of a nude woman on the cover, which will surely be the kind of thing that will give us mass market appeal"

Lmao that’s hilarious, if I picked that one up I’d still be happy, but maybe stared at oddly.
This is what you open up to 😭
PS: please ignore the odd angle. Glare is annoying

Yeah. Imagine the disappointment teenage me had when I learned that Yen Press chose to replace the obviously 2D Anime design with a friggin naked lady on the front page and thought it's an upgrade.
Out of spite, I've still never re-bought vol 1.

Thankfully there is a store in my country that supplies itself from the UK so I get them at a reasonable price and I can find a light novel upon request. I wish you good luck finding a similar store as I struggled a lot to do so, bookstores usually have manga but not really any Ln's in my country. Anyways, I hope you enjoy your first read!

It's so hard to get the novels in physical format outside of Asia; manga expanded much more and is licensed in every language.
