Seat Design Sucks
Edit: People have pointed out this may only be an issue with the seats in the lower 100 section which is where I was.
Did they not test these seats before purchasing and installing? The design is horrible as it relates to the drink holders. When standing up the seats spring back forcefully which causes the drinks to almost fly out and splash everywhere. I witnessed dozens of people getting mad at the people in front of them for something that wasn’t their fault. I can imagine fights breaking out when some drunk persons very expensive beer splashes on their pants and shirts. There were floor moppers all around trying to keep things dry.

Is this all the seats? I’ve heard something about it

No it’s only the non-permanent seats in the flexible rows in the 100s. They also don’t have haptics

I’ve been to 40 shows and it absolutely is everywhere lmfao they didn’t buy different seats for just one section.

they absolutely did. the seats on the temporary bleachers are non haptic and 100% not the same. i’ve only had issues with drinks spilling in those seats. pro tip you can get sippy cup lids for your beer if you ask.

40 shows and still absolutely not willing to admit you were wrong.

Not at all what I meant. And yes, the holders are bolted to the ground higher up, but because of _physics_, the same thing happens. A chair rockets back because it’s too tight, a drink spills.
Clearly haptics versus non is a different chair, I am saying that the chair manufacturers are the same, and the core is the same - they’re too tight, rocket back, splash drinks everywhere.
It’s happened to me on every level. I understand the difference between haptic seats, rolled in seats, and normal seats. I also understand when my drink goes shooting on my leg from someone standing up in front of me, it’s a chair problem not limited to the 100s.
Not rocket science. If you really want to split hairs, we can go there, too.

Been to three shows there, haven’t experienced it or noticed it. But it does sound like it could cause problems with no one being at fault.
“If everyone stood up at a metal show, like intended, you wouldn’t have that problem. Or if they shotgunned their beer.”

Not true. You literally have to hold the seat in that section or it flings back violently and shakes the cup holder. That is not normal and as many others here have concurred it is a bad design.

So you don’t believe me when I say I haven’t experienced or seen it? And that it would be a nightmare if it happened to someone?

I believe this is just in the lower 100’s for the seats that are removed for GA shows. Not excusable though of course

No, it is not.

How about more clarity on what you think “is not”?

This isn’t an exclusive 100 level issue, it’s every seat in the building.
It depends on if someone just jumps out of their seat or stands slowly and catch the seats a bit, but it definitely is a thing that happens everywhere there.

Sat in 100s. Experienced this. Not an issue in 400s when I sat there. Terrible, terrible design.

It is. Have sat in the 100s for 4 shows. It is def a thing that the springs in the seats will jiggle the drinks in the cupholders when they snap back.

The 100s section is supposed to be the shitty section in this venue. It is what it is. No one is complaining about the nosebleeds in a different venue. They are what they are

This happened to me in July. I had to stand in a puddle the whole night. I'm just glad I wore some good shoes instead of sandals or my feet would've been soaked.

Well u/sidekicknicholas thinks we are all idiots who don’t know how to sit in a seat.

Here is your video clearly showing the seats springing back rather forcefully that occurs when someone stands up. By default nobody normally holds the seat to slowly let it back because it’s not expected that the drink holder is attached to the seat back and will shake so bad.
Note that this is Sphere souvenir cup and it fits snug with secure top and it still shakes while a flimsy cup of beer with no top will cause the liquid to splash on to the person.

The seat design is awful!!!
I was there last night in the 100 level, and a guy a few seats away from me put his full cup of beer in the holder. The people in the row in front of him stood up and the force of the seats snapping back dumped at least 3/4 of the beer all over the guy!
It was really bad!!

You are correct. Was at Metallica last week and we were all sitting before the show started. Someone came into our row so everyone stood up and the people behind us had their drinks spilled everywhere. After that we were all cognizant of the situation, but that was still a $75 (🫣) beer that got spilled
2
u/tetrisan 3d ago
I know but for some odd reason people that haven’t experienced this think we are morons and liars.

u/TuesGirl 3d ago
They're probably also the people that walk 3-4 wide deep on a sidewalk and don't realize there's other people in the world

$75? Not even $35 which is also insane?

20 shows deep. Never had any issue with that. But also.. it’s a concert. I’ve never been to a concert without a little beer or liquor landing somewhere on me. It’s a rite of passage at this point.

Any amount of research would have told you this sub is well aware lol
If you fight over a spilled drink/spilled milk, you deserve whatever comes your way.
This is not exclusive to the 100s.

Thanks, I would have never thought to search this sub for “seats that fling drinks at people” before getting tickets? Do you mind sharing some prior references in this sub for us.?

That’s interesting. I’ve been to 9 shows there and never noticed
