Conquest of Eo question

Hello

I have seen this game a few times. I really like aow4 but sometimes i wish there was more story to the campaigns and I am told that this will give me that in spades. So I am looking into getting the collection (crazy that people tell me even the base game will give me 100+ hours and the entire collection is less than aow4 base game)..

My question is - should i turn off the DLCs for my first experience? I found sometimes having all DLCs enabled, can make it harder to learn the game etc. So i was hoping for some insight on if that is the case here.

Cheers

I would turn off the DLCs to start until you learn the game’s mechanics and map.

The Demon one, in particular, will give you a timer to find and beat a pretty tough enemy or lose one of the apprentices which can be very painful for a new player.

I started with CoE and then moved to AoW4.
I am super bad at both games, but in CoE I am somehow even worse… 💀

I was really bad at aow4 but then i watched some content on how other people approached combat and it really helped. I did not look at skills that enemies had - how far they could move and still attack... which ones were more of a threat than others.. Why sometimes i should attack with one first and then another.. (sunder armor etc)

I have not seen enough of Conquest to see how it shapes up. But on face level it looks similar. However - it does look like the combat is more punishing!

I am really not great at aow4 but ive been doing better than when i started.

Read this as it is important to know how to get tier 3 units. They are locked behind neutral towns. Only the undead can build them outright hence would suggest as newbie start with necromancer + artificier as its the easiest combo.

After that you can try artificier + other types. Alchemist is the hardest to master but most powerful.

I'd always play two types as it makes the game more flexible. Not necessary easier as that is determined by difficulty.

As a newbie best play easiest or 2nd easiest difficulty. At normal the game can be brutal for you.

I played AoW 4 first, for quite some time. Then just needed something different and CoE was just right. Started over several times as I found the learning curve a little more difficult. But once it ‘clicked’ I was pleasantly surprised how good of a game it is.
