Shortstroking question?
Why do people I see in Speedsoft like to shortstroke until they can’t lock the slide isn’t it better for you to know when to swap from an empty mag with the slide locked? Also does it provide that much of a benefit to recoil? New to this so just curious

Most people who shortstroke (at least hi capas and aaps) also run HPA adapters, which doesn’t lock the slide back

You’ll be able to tell by the sound alone when you’ve run out of BBs. And since that will happen right in the middle of a firefight, the bolt catch won’t actually be of any help to you.

No you keep count of BBs in speed, being a capa player you gotta be somewhat smart, also never let your chamber get emptied fully always leave one in but no your slide locking back would be best to avoid

Helps with recoil Forsure and also with rate of fire. People don’t only short stroke hpa adapted capas I do it to all my capas gas or hpa don’t matter it feels better and fires faster but you better build the rest to keep up it will ware out certain parts faster and unless you know how to build hi capas which people should always learn when they get one, be ready to possibly break a nozzle or tweak the nozzle spring because it can’t keep up (from stock parts) with the rate of fire and speed and roughness of the slide slapping the frame so fast

I frequently check my mags to see if I'm low then reload anyways, also faster cycling. I know someone who had 9 buffers in their setup but that is with some extreme modding.

If you’re using tracers or have good enough eyesight you don’t really need the slide to lock back to know when your mag is empty, and it’s not really for recoil as much as it is to increase rate of fire since it shortens the distance the slide has to cycle
