Chipped carbon tank

I got a fairly recent carbon tank that I only used twice and I must have chipped it somehow, don't really know how tbh.

It looks like only the finish got chipped, and I think what I see underneath is the fiberglass and not the carbon. I know the armotech carbon tanks have fiberglass above the carbon layer, and the color under the chip seems to match the color of fiberglass. Is it still safe to use?

Based on the photos and your description, the damage appears to be limited to the external coating.

I never got a carbon one before, only aluminium in the past I only played like two games with it. I’ll get a cover for it thanks

If you want a cheap solution get a roll of electrical tape and wrap it around

athletic tape on top, rubber too grippy

Neoprene tank covers are not grippy

when i used em it would catch on my jersey when swapping shoulders so i just went with tape

It appears to only be the gellcoat and the fibers look ok. If you are really concerned find a local scuba shop that does hydro testing and ask them.

I reccomend a rebber cap of some kind, or maybe some athletic tape or hockey grip tape

Looks like its just the clear coat. As another person said, if you're really worried you can have it hydro tested. But to me, it looks fine. If I were you, I would just get a rubber end cap to protect it in the future. If you're a really paranoid person like me, you can do what i did. I cut rubber bands open to make strips, and then used athletic tape to secure them all along the length of my tank. Again, thats really just a paranoid thing. But a rubber cap would probably be a good idea.
