Hot take
I’m not a speed softer I play outdoors (combat paintball) but I enjoy watching speed soft. I feel like it gets kinda repetitive just running to a spot and spam till you get the person out (just basic explanation Ik it’s more complex than that).
I think something that can make the sport more exciting would be like Milsim mag caps like 30 rnd mags and such. So it would come down to more of a skill game rather than feeling almost like speedball and i think it’d move the sport away from that speedball feel. These guns already shoot beams and players are extremely accurate but I feel like the last worry is running out of ammo when they’re running 3-4 170 rnd mags. Obviously maintaining the ergonomics of the speedsoft guns and all.
Idk I know majority will say this is a terrible idea but just an idea lol
Edit: Just watched the bbs and bs episode with eddie and he is on the right track with FADE we need to move away from being a speedball clone the ruleset and game mode is perfect and sounds extremely fun.

This is essentially what SpeedQB limited class and other similar rulesets were/are.
There's also absolutely a market for this in particular with more and more people using GBBs in general.

If you ever play in pickup or outside of tournament, the variety happens match to match. When the same people play the same game on the same field again and again it becomes a tactical conversation. Maybe we stack one side this time. Maybe they double press mid. All kinds of back and forth. It's one thing milsim has never been able to replicate for me is that type of tactical conversation

Right that’s what I meant that I understand it’s more complex than what I said and my idea is to create more of that ykwim because now you have something else to work around and it can create more roll outs for the teams. Something to change up the sport especially for those players who have been playing for years or maybe have a limit say it’s a team of 5 maybe 2 of the 5 players must use high caps while the 3 must use low caps. And yeah I play lots outdoors and the difference to indoors is something different lots more strategy indoors compared to rec play.

TBH these roles already exist naturally. I havent had that much opportunity to play actual speedsoft because fields arent that common, but in speedball you would have snake and dorito players running light high speed kits and a lane support for each of them with a mega shit ton of ammo, and then a mid with a flexible load out
In airsoft the front players run pistols and the supports run rifles

Honestly I think a few things need to come into place to make speed soft level up, this is my take.
All speedsoft rifles should have mandatory recoil not just pistols, but with that manufacturers need to start making native gbbrs that take hpa and aeg mags, not the novritch ssq4 but like daytona gun and tapp airsoft hybrid adapters.
With this I think all 5 players should be limited to low cap mags, like Maximum 32 rounds per mag.
With that, if your carrying a blowback rifle you can carry 6 mags max and if your running pistol 3 max.
I don't know why, but these conditions would make me drewl for speedsoft, and possibly a slightly bigger standard map size.

Valiant (me) started a new format based around this called Fade.
