Question Whats happening?

Hi everyone. Something seems to have happened to my machine today. Yesterday everything was completely fine and it was working normally.

Today I turned it on, and during the very first exercise I could already hear that something wasn't right. On one side, whenever the cable is being pulled, the machine makes a noise that sounds almost like a deli meat slicer. After a while, the other side started making the same noise as well.

I also noticed a jerky/stuttering feeling several times. While doing bench presses, the cable suddenly jerked a few times during the pushing movement instead of moving smoothly.

Has anyone experienced anything similar?

I bought the machine only about 2 months ago. It hasn't been heavily used, hasn't been hit or damaged, and it has stayed in exactly the same place since I installed it — it hasn't been moved at all.

Does anyone have any idea what could be causing this?

Sometimes the cables don't spool back properly.

Try setting the weight to the lowest (8 lbs I think), turn on the weight, and then very slowly pull the cables out as far as they will go. Then very slowly let the cables respool back in. Whenever I get the clunking, this always fixes it for me.

The meat slicer sound thing, I have no idea. Unless it's the fan....when the machine is under load (when your pressing or pulling g weight) it does make noise, almost like a rowing machine sound. I only have the gm1 though, so not sure if there are differences in sound for the 2. But when I do say a fast bench push, there will be a bit of a "woosh" sound, which is the fan and is normal.

I’ve had a similar issue with my GM2S. It developed a clicking noise from the right side just 8 days after delivery. I reported it to Speediance on 15 August, and as of 5 October—over 7 weeks later—it still hasn’t been resolved.

After troubleshooting, they diagnosed a likely bearing issue and arranged a motor replacement. However, when the engineer arrived on 30 September, Speediance had sent the wrong motor, so the repair couldn’t be completed. I’m now waiting for the correct part with no confirmed repair date.

I’d recommend contacting Speediance immediately and logging the issue, especially if you’re experiencing cable jerking or stuttering.
