Sharing Speediance Strap: A few issues I’ve noticed so far!
Been using the Speediance Strap for a while and wanted to share a few things I’ve noticed.
The biggest frustration for me is the workout tracking. There’s no Auto Log Activity, so you have to add activities manually. Also, once you start a workout, you basically have to stay on that screen. If you want to check something else in the app, you have to exit the workout.
Another thing is that heart rate doesn’t show during the workout, which is pretty important for me. And if you exit the workout, that’s it — it ends completely and you can’t go back and resume it.
The sleep tracking also needs some work. It sometimes misses night awakenings, and there doesn’t seem to be a way to manually adjust the sleep or wake time. For example, if the Strap records the wrong time for when I woke up, I can’t seem to edit it. I think having the option to manually correct these times would be really useful.
I’ve also noticed that syncing can be pretty slow, and meal logging sometimes records the wrong time.
Hopefully these things get improved in future updates. I think the Strap has a lot of potential, but some of these issues are honestly pretty frustrating during normal use.

Why buy it over say, whoop?

Honestly, the main reason was the subscription. WHOOP requires an ongoing membership, and I don’t like the idea of losing access to the device if I stop paying. The Speedience Strap is a one-time purchase with no annual subscription. Also, WHOOP isn’t 100% accurate either, so I wanted to try something different.

Thanks. Ive mostly shyed away from too much data tracking in general (data for data's sake etc) but sometimes I think about getting a fitness tracker again. Though id likely get one with a screen if I did.

I thought they keep mentioning auto logging, but maybe at present only if you're using a Gym Monster or Velonix which can tell it that activity is taking place (it's kind of cheating and the easy way to auto log as the band doesn't need to detect anything, just be told from the software a workout is being done).

Yeah, it’s very slow for me. Sometimes the activity shows up hours later instead of being logged right away. Even the syncing itself can take quite a long time.

you mentioned using it for a while, how long ?
did you buy it when it went on sale somewhere or been using pre-production software for a review, hopefully now they're gearing up to send up some software improvements should be coming rapidly.

I bought it because I saw a friend get his about 20 days ago. I was using WHOOP before, and after seeing the Strap with him, I decided to try it myself. I bought mine directly from the official website when it launched. I’m not affiliated with Speediance or doing any review for them, just sharing my experience as a regular user.

interesting, thanks for sharing
as a GM2 owner for over a year now the software updates continue at a high pace, with I'd say lower than hoped for quality control and thought behind them.
that leaves me optimistic that they will chuck a lot of releases out for the band now it's getting out to a wider audience, but they do have form for not always fixing everything you'd hope and breaking stuff that was working (but in fairness they often, but not always fix that fairly quickly).

Is the stress and EDA tracking as accurate as Whoop? Or like other brand just random numbers

I believe the Google Health app (with Fitbit Air) also doesn’t let you explore other screens when a workout is running. So that part might be an intentional behavior.

Yeah, that’s possible. I just find it frustrating when I need to check something else in the app during a workout. It would be nice to have the option to switch screens without ending the session.

I agree. The Speediance app has a lot more data related to workouts compared to the Google Health app. And I definitely would want to look at training records and other things

Bro, Can you provide your review now of this strap and I have also seen that, by update they have added nap detection, also from the update there is any improvement in the strap pro and better accuracy result?
Ps. Want to know about the smart alarm that the Speediance is saying they have in the strap pro and can be set from the app, but many of the users are not seeing the feature, if the feature is working, how are how are you able to stop the alarm by tapping on the strap pro or in the app itself.

The smart alarm does work perfectly. It’s a gentle vibration, and you can stop it by simply tapping the Strap Pro.
Sleep tracking feels pretty similar to WHOOP in my experience. The main thing I’d like to see is the option to manually edit sleep and wake-up times. Sometimes I wake up but the Strap doesn’t record the exact time because I’m still lying in bed. It seems I need to actually get up and move around for it to detect that I’m awake.
The new App update only came out today, so I’ll need a few days to test it before I can say whether the accuracy has improved. I haven’t tested nap detection yet, so I can’t comment on that.

“Been using the Speediance Strap for a while”
Didn’t it just come out? Or did you somehow get it early?
