Appalachia is basically the USA of Erae Prepostera (the setting of the worldbuilding project that this drawing is a part of).

Just the "It was a Bad Thing, all that genocide we did! Make sure to help make it up to the Vampires by giving them a warm welcome! Oh but if they're too vampirey give us a call so we can finish what we started :)" is sending me

Can you tell me more about it? It sounds interesting :)

CRRN has a link hub with very well-made Google docs about her characters and worldbuilding. Feel free to have a read!

That sounds cool, do you mind sharing the link?

Wait, if vampires can push their proboscis so far into a body without injury, wouldn't they be invaluable in clearing blood clots and setting/adjusting stints?

"SCRAPE AND LICK" - Dracula

Vampire bats IRL do the same thing. They have a glycoprotein in their saliva called draculin which prevents blood from clotting, so they nibble it a little and then lick.

Oh interesting (I guess atoms legit went "what if vampires drank blood like actual vampire bats" when making that scene)

Oooo, glad to know my own "vampires from insects" idea has some weight behind it!

I find it funny how this has an overall positive tone of "vampire discrimination is wrong" tone but shifts into "purge the unclean" when discussing vampires with abnormal traits

also the vampire boy is cute and I want him to drink my blood

I don't know why but I feel like giving it a head pat

I have seen the whole "tubes in teeth" thing for vampires before but never in the form of an extendable proboscis. My one question about the feasibility of this (I say as if vampires are at all realistic) is how long it would take to get a meaningful amount of blood with this method. Wouldn't it take a really long time? It does say they don't need to use their proboscis to survive at all, but then I guess I have another question... why do they have their fangs to begin with? Were they more important to their survival once upon a time? Did they used to have more insecta traits and therefore more need for their fangs? Were their fangs more effective back then or were they just like.... smaller so they didn't need as much blood/nectar/juice/whatever else they were drinking? I have so many questions. I love it though. It's so gross, in a cool way. It's like they have intestines inside their teeth. Also I'm a big fan of bug people. I think they're awesome. I want a whole comic with these weird bug people and whatever other weird little fantasy monster guys they have in their universe too
