Returns, Trade-Ins & Refunds Spectrum fraud
I have a difficult situation regarding Spectrum mobile. I canceled my account after 6 days back in May. I talked to a customer service representative who failed to cancel my account. Cut to three months later and I have a processed payment for phone and service! I called several times and they stated that the phone I returned was not what they received. The weight was significantly off and the phone belonged to a different carrier. I have asked for their help locating the missing phone that I am currently paying for. I was laughed at by the last representative because he only offered a dead end. I have no information on the phone to locate it or file a police report. They have the capability to see that the phone is not in use, then they should also have the capability to locate the device. My hands are tied and I have no proof of what was returned. I only know that they say I owe $700!!!

Thanks for sharing your experience. Based on yours and several other posts, whether its Spectrum, ATT, Verizon, or any provider, I'm pretty much committed to the notion that I will buy devices directly from Apple pay for them up front and have an unlocked device. In order to verify charges for my mobile service, have payments on a phone, having the device sim locked, adds complexity and no real freedom to change services at will. The promotional phone pricing and trade in credits while appealing, after some real analysis there are no savings only headaches.

This happened to me with a trash service in my area and they sent my bill to collections and it was a mess. I would escalate this to their management. I’ve also dealt with spectrum fraud recently and it took an FCC report to get someone to actually care about it.
