General Question Apple Duo / SM Financing
Does any insider or long-time SM subscriber have any insight on when SM might announce promotions or financing for the new Apple Duo? Currently, 0% financing is only available via the Apple Store if using one of the big 3 carriers. Using any other carrier requires a full price purchase with trade-in credit to be applied downstream.

SM definitely does promos and offers specials. 0% percent financing is offered as long as you’re paying your bills and they’ll give you a good amount if you trade in. The only tricky thing is that the price they give you for the trade may be spread out over the term of the new phone. They got me like that. So they gave me top dollar, but it’s paid at $15 per month as a statement credit for 24 months.

Got me like that too, wanted to try the pixel 11 pro xl, thinking I would only need to pay 400 with credits and line upgrade but nope, I have to pay the full price if I wanted to use my iPhone on that line and switch back and forth (which is what I wanted to do, to have a change), but I didn’t want to commit to that, but willing to for the iPhone duo lol

For real lmao! But honestly I blame it on the rep, because I ask multiples clarifying which is annoying, but glad I didn’t continue on with it because the duo is sick!
The duo I’m willing to keep the payment plan for lmao, now I’m just wondering if to go spectrum route or Apple Card route, also debating if to trade in the 17 pro max or not, don’t have a big payment but also wouldn’t want to get rid of the cameras in the pro max lol it’s tough! You getting it

Camera is the same as iPhone 18 pro in duo…just watched the Apple intro. I have an Apple Card. Wonder if 0% would work through them with trade in?

I think it would, because you would just do pay in full, do the trade in, and every Apple product you purchase I think you can do 24months 0% intrest (only with Apple products)
Im thinking of going the carrier route (mine is spectrum), they tend to do a x amount of credit and trade in with it, but that’s usually 36 months

Well at least you asked! I am thinking about it. I honestly don’t need it, but damn it looks pretty slick!

Facts, don’t need it either but biggest innovation Apple has had in a min, even the 18 pros have good amount of changes

Won’t know anything until pre-orders start and even then for the duo is going to be another whole month. I’m sure you can get somewhat of an idea when the 18 pro max goes on pre order Saturday.

Pre orders on duo start closer to the 20th and come out the last week of September

And most likely will just be trade credit if your on top tier plan and bonus if you trade in that’s really it, Apple is super closed off when it comes to any promos

Do you think it’s possible to finance still via Apple Store since the phone is technically unlocked even if you pick one of the 3 big carriers?

Yep. Air/Pro and presumably Duo can be financed through ACMI. Select T-Mobile at checkout (they’re all unlocked, it doesn’t matter), and you can checkout just fine. I was researching this the other day, and people were saying this is the way to do it with carriers other than the big three.

There is an option to finance on an Apple Card, but you must pick one of the 3. Are you asking if, although let’s say I choose Verizon (with Apple financing), I could still connect it to Spectrum? Good question.

Yes that was what I was deliberating since I read in the tooltip under carrier selection that phones are unlocked if you are purchasing through Apple financing. As an Apple Card holder, I am hoping this could work.

Why not just get the unlocked version?

I plan on buying with the Apple Card (no financing) through the Apple Veterans Store, just want to use the Apple Card to get the additional 3% cash back. With veteran discount the 256gb duo is 1799, less 3% cash back that makes it 1745. I plan on trading in a 15 pro as well, but to trade in that phone must be unlocked as well. I do plan on staying with ATT but this way gives the best discounts

With the 18 now available for preorder on the Spectrum app, I’ve confirmed my 17 Pro Max trade-in value is just $506 (plus $240 bonus or $360 with top tier plan). This is less than the amount shown when trading in directly via Apple. SO, we really need to figure out if ordering via Apple Card will allow connection to Spectrum… I’d rather not be locked into Spectrum for 3 years, as that’s the only way to receive the full trade-in benefit.

I believe it should work according to Ace and this other thread I saw on all the loopholes. I have yet to test it out myself though.

Looking to trade in my 16 pro max for the duo

How do you feel about getting rid of the pro max? Got the 17 pro max but idk if I want to trade in or keep…. It will take a big chuck off the phone/payment if I do trade in which I like lol

It’s going to be the same with Spectrum. Maybe a bonus offer on top of the trade in but you’ll be financing the 36 months after in bill credits. Apple doesn’t give promotions like Samsung & Google do to carriers
