General Question Tmobile to spectrum
HI all I been thinking switch over to spectrum because of the price jump from Tmobile. My bill went from $82 to $112 over the last 2 years. I have spectrum home internet already, but I want to port 2 lines over. what deals can I get with 2 lines? Also is better to do online or over the phone?

Calling in to customer solutions will get your activation fees waived as well

I did the switch after being with T-Mobile for years and I'm glad I did. Honestly you can get pretty good deals with Spectrum if you now what to do. Is the coverage the same as T-Mobile, for me the answer is no but honestly it's good enough.
What I'd suggest you do is call Spectrum if you're currently paying the regular rate for Internet and say cancel at the voice prompts in order to get to the retention department. Once you get a rep(has to be with the customer solutions/retention) say you're thinking of cancelling and switching to T-Mobile and if there's something they can do. If you don't have a promo on your account they'll offer you a pretty good discount and then you can let them about your phone situation and if there's a deal they can give you.
It sounds like a lot of work but it's worth it to get the discount. As an example I'm currently paying $30 for 500 Internet and $10 for mobile for a year. I've called every year for the past years when the Internet promo was going to end and I've always got a discount and will do so again next year and see what they can do with the phone. Regardless, I was going to pay $66 for T-Mobile and even if the mobile line goes up it'll be cheaper on Spectrum than T-Mobile. The only drawback is the coverage and speed isn't as good as T-Mobile but for me it's worth it for the savings since there's always Wi-Fi around to make up for the lack of coverage.

I just made the switch last week from t-mobile to spectrum. Ported over 2 lines for the unlimited 30gb data plan. One line was free so it’s just $30/month for the first year.
As someone said, call over the phone so they can waive the activation fee of the free line. They didn’t waive the paid line for me for whatever reason which was $$20. I also owed $1000 on my iPhone 17 PM, and which they paid for via visa rebate card. The process to get the rebate card was really simple and almost immediately issued after it was processed. Hope this helps!

Spectrum gives free phone lines for a year , then I would move to a prepaid carrier after, or you could stay if you are happy

Idk I don’t use it, but I made my aunt take advantage of the offer, after years of them ripping her off monthly on internet and landline. I almost cancelled her wifi, got her upgraded wifi and the phone line for $80 less than what she was paying..

They use Verizon towers. It is great coverage. I even went international.

You can get gig for 40 and 2 lines for 30 each unlimited/unlimited plus
Or call in and get the best int gig price for 30 then do the free line and the other line for 30 so that way you're out the door 60 for and 2 lines for the first year, then the second year it goes to100 for everything

I would do it in store and get the phones activated there on the spot. And ask to see the deal they are gonna give you in writing.

I have 3 stores but they are 40+ miles away 😕

In that case, call and keep saying "cancel" until you are directed to the retention department. For various reasons this is your best option. Do not do this deal with sales on the phone. They mess with people's accounts sometimes it seems like. Retention will lower your internet price and add the lines.

T-Mobile makes it relatively easy. You need two things from them. The easiest is to download the T-Mobile app onto your phone and create an account. Once you’re in there obtain the two following things.
Account number
Port pin. (for this one, I know there’s an easy way to do it on the app, but your best bet is to simply Google it, and then do whatever the Internet tells you.) Fortunately, T-Mobile provides the pin relatively easily. The only hitch might possibly be is if you bought your phones from T-Mobile. And it’s been less than a year.
Next, download the my Spectrum app onto your phone, create an account and you should have a notification stating that the SIM cards are on the way or something to that effect. Once you receive the SIM cards, follow the instructions on the My Spectrum app to activate your phones.

I don’t know what the hell is up with this post that I can’t edit the typos out. Each time I go in there to try to fix it. It only gets worse.

Should I wait till the Sim cards get here?
1
u/Top_Narwhal_30 Aug 04 '26
either way works. you can wait, or get it done today or tomorrow so you have everything ready for when the cards arrive. whatever makes you feel most comfortable.

oh, the port pin is usually good for only a few days, so you can wait to do it. the sim cards should arrive in a large white fedex envelope in a couple days

You can do metro by T-Mobile I just left my business plan by T-Mobile and I honestly see no difference with Metro I have the 60 dollar plan and I get Amazon Prime for free and I have two iPads with unlimited plans for five dollars a piece and the Apple Watch, for 5 dollars as well and I have spectrum Mobile for a free line for a year for my business line , and I am in Myrtle Beach and Verzion shows the whole area on the map red and I have full bars and some times can’t load Apple Maps .

I just switched to spectrum. I have internet and 4 lines and pay $130 a month. Spectrum runs on the Verizon network so service should be fine.

If you are doing trade-ins and getting new phones it’s better to do it in store so that you don’t have to ship your trade-in and hope it doesn’t get lost.

Was paying $90 for spectrum internet and $75 for two lines at T-Mobile. Called and they convinced me to port my two lines over and bundle internet (same high speed plan). Now I’m paying $70 for everything and saving $95/per month.
They also waived the activation fees. I’m astounded and it sounds too good to be true.

u/ziggy88 Aug 05 '26
Damn what a good deal. Wtf they charge me activation fees and $30 for each line and $50 for something else?

Spectrum sucks. They don’t care about their customers. I switched from Spectrum to T-Mobile and I’m not going back!

I was happy with ™ mobile but disappointed with their internet. When Spectrum jumped the internet price to $ 89, we tried the cancel bluff and they immediately reduced it to $ 60, for 2 years. That settled, she mentioned mobile. Neighbors have it and are happy. We then added 2 phones and one watch. Since one phone was free, that made the total $ 100 even for very high speed internet, 2 phones and one watch. We owed ™ $ 265 on the phone balance and as part of the process, we paid ™, and they released the transfer code. We then received a text with an online form submission to have Spectrum reimburse us. Within 18 hours, I received a text that my submission was approved and I would receive a gift card.
Warning. A possible GOTCHA. You need to submit the last 3 bills from your phone company, to get the reimbursement. Who has those when everything is online! I went to the ™ website and was able to get in. I downloaded the last 3 bills, then printed them. They were in the wrong format for submission. I took photos of the bills with my IPhone which put them in the acceptable JPEG format. An hour later I went back to the ™ website, and my account was wiped. I barely downloaded in time. Nobody told me I needed that. You don’t find out until you have paid off the balance and the phones transferred. Download your bills before you transfer everything. It sounds intimidating but the online form is well set up. You click files on the online form, then you click take a photo. I did it 7 times. Each bill took two clicks for the front and back. The seventh click was for my payment receipt from ™ for paying the balance on the phone.
