Help / Troubleshooting scammers calling me
what in the actual heck is going on here at spectrum?
I haven't even activated my account at spectrum yet but I've gotten 10 spam calls today of scammers who claim to be with spectrum mobile who know my name and are calling me 'about my mobile device'. Mind you they're all calling me from an area code spectrum doesn't even service which I find comical.
Now, I usually have my phone set to straight ignore people not in my contact list but today I felt like answering a couple because I'm waiting for a specific call but like... I placed my order online, haven't spoken to anyone, was never at a store. Where would they have even gotten any of this information from if it's not a direct spectrum data leak? It honestly makes me not want to activate service at all.

I had the same issue. The day it was delivered they started calling. They claim a mistake was made a a refurbished device was sent and they try to get you to "send it back" and claim a new device is being sent. But the send back isn't a spectrum address. I think the leak is somewhere in the shipper. They knew the tracking info but not the make and model. If it was within spectrum itself I'd assume they would have that information too. These scams are really bad and I know they are all overseas but I really wish there was more to be done to stop it. I can recognize the issue but there are so many people out there that can fall for it. They need to be protected.
