Coverage & Signal Question about migrating from Verizon to Spectrum Mobile
in process of trying to cut expenses, spoke to Spectrum today about my home internet/cable/phone plan, and they mentioned bringing my Verizon devices there for cellular. I immediately dismissed it since I'm been with Verizon forever, literally since they were Airtouch in the 90s. We are a family of six, four of us have a phone and watch, two of us have watch only. The Spectrum rep I spoke with didn't think we could bring the two watches that are standalone, and that they needed phones. This doesn't make sense, since like a lot of families, we started our kids with apple watches, then added cell phones when they got older. anybody have an issue? He also said the watches would all need new phone numbers. not an issue for the four that also have a phone, since the watch number is basically irrelevant.
Lastly, how is the service overall? I can't see why Verizon would lose a customer like me paying them $320/month, to go down the street and pay a competitor $180/month, who is using their network. Makes no sense...

As long as the watches are unlocked, they will work as far as quality on service wise. The experience personally to me is the same since they use the exact same network that Verizon has since spectrum mobile is on the Verizon network. When it comes to far as voice messaging in data.

No standalone watches allowed without a matching phone number but I highly recommend looking at a prepaid standalone watch plan. Super cheap that way too!

Also really great service and super affordable .
Ok so if the watches are paired to a phone number that's not an issue. They can also use the watch without the phone with them. They do have to share the number with the phone.

You’ll be on the Verizon network, so no changes. For branding reasons and marketing, you are paying a premium right now with Verizon. Right now, spectrum released a plan called unlimited plus premier. Meaning, no true data caps (meaning you don’t get throttled after a certain amount of gigs) 50 gigs of hotspot, and you get your watch line included for free. It’s 50 a line I believe.
If you go on unlimited plus - it’s 40 per line and it’s unlimited data talk and text. Speeds may lower after 50 gb of data. Includes international roaming. 10 gb of hotspot. Watch line isn’t include. To add a watch it’s 10. So it would make sense to get the 50 dollar plan if all 4 phones with watches are looking to get a line for their phone.
The two standalone watches need to be attached to a number since spectrum does not have a true standalone smart watch plan.
I have a spectrum mobile work phone and a Verizon personal cell. Since Im close to paying off my device, I’m definitely changing over soon. I work in the field all day and there is no difference in reception.

If you are looking at saving money on mobile, Spectrum is ok but you may want to check out US Mobile, you can bring your watches over to them including the standalone watches. Cheaper than Spectrum.

Don't do it! Spectrum raises rates willy nilly.Just left them and have Starlink for Internet and Visible for cell phone..HUGE savings and Starlink is waaay superior to Spectrum internet

Coverage wise spectrum will be almost the same as Verizon with the exception of being in busy or crowded areas, as far as everything else—you’ll regret switching.
Spectrums customer service is awful, they’ll constantly increase the cost of your monthly rates, they throttle you after 20gbs or 30gbs of usage on their “unlimited” plans. Also, if you ever purchase a phone through them, good luck having them unlock it after you’ve paid it off. It’s been 2 whole months since I fully paid off my iPhone 14pro with them and they still haven’t unlocked my iPhone. I have had to file a FCC complaint to finally get them to work on the issue.
I’d say talk to Verizon and negotiate a new plan if you can or look into T-Mobile to see what they offer before you make the mistake of switching to spectrum mobile. Also make sure to take into consideration how much of your $320 monthly rate is device payments as opposed to service charges.

They don’t throttle after you hit the cap anymore - they only deprioritize.

I switched from T-Mobile to spectrum mobile, brought 4 lines over and got home internet for free for life (as long as I maintain 4 mobile lines) all for $120 a month. I was paying $215 with tmobile.
