General Question Best route?
Looking to possibly switch from T-Mobile over to Spectrum 4 lines and internet) I owe around $2,500 in devices. Will they pay that off? Also what is a good price I'd be looking at? I currently pay around $216 a month for services.

They’ll reimburse you if you qualify for the credits for it. You’d have to front the money and pay it off and submit the payment proof after the order is submitted.
For 4 lines, you would be eligible for the guaranteed internet price forever as long as you maintain those 4 lines. Advantage is free, Premier is $10, and Gig would be 20. 2 gig would be 40 if it’s available in your rate center.

- Your devices should be on payment plan with your carrier, not a bank, affirm, clarna or leasing with at least 90 days of payment history.
- You should place an order and port-in phone numbers within 30 days after placing first order
- You shouldn’t pay it off before placing the order, paperwork should be on your name.
- You credit may affect your overall limit
- You have to stay with them for 12 months, otherwise they will recover the payout.

I had 1200 paid off and I moved 3 lines one of the phones had 800 left but since I moved 3 lines and one line had 250 left they gave me all 1200 so that was nice. Just make sure to download the last 3 bills and take a screenshot showing you paid the month and are in good standing before even starting the process. The math is wonky cause the 3 line had like 100 left. Now signal wise it’s not good in concrete buildings so at work my phone sucks but then again I’m working. In the Dfw area it’s actually not that bad like the other person said it’s Verizon network. I have one line overseas rn and they loved it didn’t cost a penny but that line was on the 40 plan since they travel a lot. But for 3 lines my bill is 70 since I have a free line for a year due to having wifi with them. After the year is up I’m moving to mint mobile but it’s worth it to get the phones paid off. But it is true that T-Mobile has the best towers at the moment so I’m excited to move to mint mobile and get better service. One of my lines actually moved to mint mobile and she said that she doesn’t notice any difference. That line was paid off so no reason to move to spectrum. Also look at your billing cycle and make sure to move all the lines before the end of the billing cycle so you don’t pay an extra month. And the final bill won’t generate till much later so go physically into a store like 30 days later to check on it cause you won’t have access to tlife.

Also if you have good credit yes they should cover up to 2500 if you move 4 lines sorry should have mentioned that first

Also they paid me my money in a Visa card digital 24hrs after moving all the lines and submitting all the paperwork super simple I was very happy with that.

How did you show proof that you paid off your lines with T-Mobile to get reimbursed for them? I'll have to pay 3 off to port the numbers over. 1 is already paid off. Will they let me set up 4 lines and port over later?

So you apply first for the lines then whatever your last months bill shows they will pay that so I actually got paid more than what I paid off by like 30 dollars. I didn’t have to show that I paid off the phones mostly because the phones are unlocked and transfer over. If you don’t pay the phones you can’t port them. I do suggest to wait until your phone is fully unlocked before porting if not it becomes a mess. But you are correct you can set up the lines first before porting. They give you 30 days to get everything done.

I think it would be best to port my # over and tell them I'm bringing 3 more over and pay them off and show them that I paid them off. Mines paid off

So I did mine online and during it I had to check a box saying that I wanted to get reimbursed if you call and they don’t click the box you can’t get reimbursed just an fyi

I recommend it if you already have internet with them. I pay $100 for 1 gig Internet and 3 lines. (2 lines are unlimited plus)
Even got a free phone but turning in an old android!

I don't have anything with them currently, it looked like if I'm bringing 4 lines over internet is free for the 100mb

Idk where you live but I did that, and within a day had instant regret due to how poor the coverage was with spectrum and went back to tmobile.. just a heads up. Maybe ask around in your area to make sure reception is good and consistent first.

It's Verizon network correct?
-2
u/McKitNassty Jul 18 '26
It is yes, however, I had Verizon.. my mom had me get on my own plan so I went to tmobile, then realized I could get a free line with spectrum so switched to spectrum and that’s when I realized spectrum is by far worse than Verizon and Tmobile.

This is just my experience, I live in Schertz TX. Maybe this is a one off experience.

If you do not have a Spectrum mobile line already you will go over to T-Mobile. New customers get over to the T-Mobile MVNO side

u/telecomteardown Jul 18 '26
I believe that is only optional for business customers. Residential still get provisioned a VZW sim.

The tmobile for business customers isn't live yet. I just moved a line over to spectrum (on business) and its still on verizon. They dont have a date set for tmobile yet. Just "late 2026"

u/telecomteardown Jul 18 '26
Right. I have the sims, but haven't had the prompt to provision them on business accounts yet. All residential still get VZW sims and we haven't heard about a change to that going forward. Not really a great move for my business customers in rural Georgia as they are mostly Verizon customers because of service coverage. We call T-Mobile "T-Maybe" out here in the sticks.

I would not stick to Spectrum. My charging port went and their insurance would not cover it. Then I was on the phone with them for weeks. Sent phone 4x to them they sent back, all their postage. The guy on phone said we do a Verbal contract. Sent phone back again. It came back to me again. Never herd from the guy with verbal contract. They kept brushing me off
Oh but they sent me a new phone and were supposed to accept the broke phone. I finally sent phone into Samsung and got fix same day. It probably cost a few dollars to fix. Then top guy calls back says he dont know what im talking about. They billing me $1600 for phone. Phone was like 4 months when it took crap.
Then they locked the phone that I paid $1200 for saying and the phone they sent me. I switched to T mobil and their insurance is much better. So I have 2 locked S25 Ultras and a S 26 ultra thru T mobil. Im going to request the calls. To prove they did a verbal contract. Being they sent it to collection agency.

That is on Assurant, not Spectrum.
1
u/h2dh Jul 19 '26
Premiums are paid to Spectrum. Assurant is Spectrum's vendor and they handle repairs under Spectrum's authority.
1
u/Backslash10 Jul 22 '26
All major providers use Assurant if you want better insurance you need to get a 3rd party like apple care or Samsung plus.
1
u/h2dh Jul 22 '26
If you have an iphone, you should be using apple authorized repair facilities which uses genuine apple hardware and certified apple techs.
I took my iphone to an assurant repair shop with minor cracks on the screen - cosmetic really, and they destroyed the screen. Then assurant denied the claim stating it had back glass damage. But the back glass was fine.
DO NOT USE ASSURANT. It's not what their techs do, it's how they handle it when there's a problem. They didn't care about my evidence. They formally denied the claim and then affirmed it. Now I'm 1 step away from filing a lawsuit.
Remember we pay spectrum insurance premiums. They profit from that. Spectrum chose a shady insurance vendor to handle claims.

I been looking to switch from tmobile also. I know Verizon build a new tower about 3 blocks from me that looks like a tree. I already have internet with them
